Khalil Rountree Jr's Oblique Kick ........

That’s not an oblique kick it was a side kick whoever is working at ESPN needs to be replaced

Look folks. If it's ok to give your opponent severe brain trauma that we know leads to life long problems and you're ok with watching it. You don't really get to suddenly hold this against Khalil for using a legal technique that's been openly known to be perfectly legal for some time . All those arm bars at the start of the year that were snapping arms in half were pretty deliberate. You guys want to bitch and moan about the morality of those as well? It wasn't sporting to break his arm!!! Pussies.

I want to watch my favourite fighters get severe brain trauma more often, thats why I care for their knees.

If anyone can hook me up with Jacares people I'll teach him when to tap to an armbar

EDIT: I agree with you that it is fair game while its still legal tho

A legendary finish that was rewarded with nothing because daddy Dana doesn’t want to market him.
Then paddy pebbles does some amateur hour contender series garbage and walks away with a check. WWE stuff always real sport stuff never

Let's say fighters now focus much more on these kicks, and every card 1 or 2 fights end with wrecked ACLs. That's a good outcome? Injury TKOs suck.

All TKOs are "injury TKOs". When you get punched in the head and lose equilibrium that's a brain injury. Surely it's a lot safer in the long run getting your knee jacked up (even if you get permanent damage) rather than getting your brain mangled. The majority of fighters end up with long term CTE problems to one degree or another, and yet we're all fine with the massive head trauma they suffer repeatedly throughout their careers.

The point of this "sport" is to end the fight as soon as possible within the rules. Oblique kicks are one of the techniques that allow fighters to do this. Saying they're not "sporting" is an entirely subjective opinion.

The take from the baltic gladiator. Fingers crossed the Lithuanian health care system can fix him up.

The Lithuanian health system, like most others in the developed world, is 10x better than the shitty American one.

Reread what I wrote, and reread your response.

Yours in not a direct rebuttal. You may think so, but it's not. You are not directly addressing the points.

oblique kicks take SKILL compared to SKILLESS moves like eye gouging. that is why it's allowed and eye gouging and headbutting isn't.

it's like saying "hey why don't they allow the guys to use guns! they're way effective too!"

i don't see why it's unsporting? but getting dome kicked by some sociopath isn't unsporting? what about punching guys while they're already knocked out? or holding submissions? or the million other actual unsporting shit that happens in our sport than a leg kick.

like would you be this disgusted if Rountree broke his leg with a regular roundhouse low kick? what's the difference if he breaks his leg with an oblique kick or a roundhouse low kick, or a submission, or a check?

Tell Frank Mir they got time to tap on an arm bar. Fuck out with that shit that's up to the dude applying it. And about 100% of fighters throw low kicks so if they remove that from their arsenal they going to be at a pretty big disadvantage.
Again, when doing a submission, you have time to tap. Whether or not you do it, is up to you. You have *some* warning of it coming. This knee stomp, is far from that. Not surprised you casuals can't tell the difference here. If we gonna continue to let this strike stay legal, then we must allow head stomps, head butts, knees to head, groin strikes, eye gouging, etc.

its a fuckin kick, not an eye poke.

It would be very difficult to enforce, first of all.

you gonna get fouled for throwing a side kick too low? fuck off
Eye pokes and groin strikes are difficult to enforce, so lets use your retard logic and make them legal as well.

Its fuckin nasty. It's gonna fuck with his head if he ever comes back.
Bad thing is, it might fuck with Khalil's head too. He seems like that kinda person.

Just seems like a cheap way to win a fight and inflict a career threatening or at least year long injury on someone.

Lowest fight move next to ball punches and fish hooking. Can't believe that's legal.

Oblique kicks deal equivalent damage to leg locks. Some Leg locks can actually deal worst damage. You would have to ban the majority of leg attacks.

Can’t believe the soft ass MMA fans out there, I’m still hoping for kicks and knee’s to a grounded opponent. At the very least, 12-6 elbows.

I hate those so much. Its legal and all that but I can't stand them. Shit on only good for side lining fighters unnecessarily

Several different angles of this kick. The top view makes my stomach churn.

You can tap to a leg lock long before anything bad happens. One of those slips through and you could be facing a serious injury before you even know it. I've been heel hooked, toe holed, knee bared, calf slices, ankle locked, etc more times than I can count. Not once have I been injured before I had time to tap.

That's an idiotic comparison.

I would gladly trade oblique kicks for knees to a grounded opponent any day of the week.

Some dummies wanted to ban calf kicks to after seeing people lose fights because of them, if they become popular - people will learn counters to them. Simples.
