I agree but sitting on someone and raining down fists and elbows like a schoolyard fight isn't considered sporting by most people either. At least that's what boxing fans would say.All sports have rules to disallow certain things that "aren't very sporting."
In the NFL, one of the rules involves not climbing on your teammate's back to try to block a kick/punt. It's sporting to jump as high as YOU can; it's not sporting to climb on your teammates back to get a boost.
In a sport fight, oblique kicking techniques to the knee aren't very sporting.
EDIT: Some put foot stomping in that category, too, but I actually have a soft spot for that because it can dissuade wall-and-stallers.
Meh, thats stupid, especially about this kick. HHJ said it perfectlyThis.
That’s a move I would use to save my life or protect my loved ones; not to win a sporting competition.
But that’s just me.

Dude I couldn't agree more!
If we are fine with head trauma we can't ban stuff that is less dangerous than that, makes no sense at all.
On that note its a massive oversight that groin strikes and small joint manipulation is illegal but thats what you get with these commission people I guess.
The most bizarre unjustly illegal technique is by far the "fish-hook" since that is easily countered by biting anyways (which should also be legal, atleast on non vital stuff like fingers) .
Alright ima go to sparring now and grab some people by the hair, see ya later

..... hurts to watch.DISCUSS !
In Rugby and Aussie rules football jumping off your teammate is a logical and skillful way to get higher. There's nothing inherently "unsporting" about it. I get your point though, but would use a different example. Stomping on toes in unsporting in a completely different way than jumping off a teammate to get higher (which is just practical/creative).
You, my friend, have made an EXCELLENT point. Some of these dingleberries can't seem to think about it all the way through.
This isn't a REAL FIGHT. Imagine what techniques you would bar for someone trying to hurt or kill you/your mother/father/etc. That's right--you would hold NOTHING BACK. It's ALL GOOD.
But this is a sporting competition. That's why they don't eye gouge (at least, they aren't supposed to, and should be penalized immediately). No Glasgow/Manchester/Liverpool Kisses, AKA headbutting. No hairpulling. No punching backs of heads and spines. And other things.
The oblique knee attack is one of the next things that will be in that previous paragraph.
Retard logic here. Arm bars are different as the fighter gets a chance to tap before the damage is done. Check kicks can be avoided by not throwing the kick. This oblique kick is vastly different as it is the other fighter is throwing it at you, and if it lands right, it can instantly tear up your knee with all kinds of ligament damage. Same with how eye pokes are banned along with other moves, like small joint manipulation.
Kicking someone just above the knee isn't bad, but when you kick someone on the knee like in this case, it can cause severe damage. Moves like this, should be banned. If not, then let everything be legal, like knees to head, head butt, groin strikes, eye gouging, etc. Why have any rules in place to begin with?
how dare he kick that guy when he was trying to punch him1?!
Eyepokes and headbutts are JUST AS EFFECTIVE, or even MORE EFFECTIVE, than oblique knee attacks. Just two banned attacks of several.
But they aren't allowed, are they? Why?
Because they AREN'T SPORTING.
Anyone have a rebuttal for the above?
