The reason why they suggest catchweight is because they don't want a situation where GSP beats Khabib then holds up the entire division cause GSP doesn't want to defend his belt. Dana knows it which is why he is refusing to let the fight happen. He doesn't want GSP to fight then run away again.

I think there's only one good fight for Khabib at 155, and that's TFerg. After that, no one really deserves a shot. GSP is an all-time great and a top draw, so that makes the fight compelling and logical.

It also makes sense for Khabib to return to 170 if he beats TFerg, as he would have effectively cleaned out the 155 division. To many, I think Khabib vs Gathje or Cerrone is nowhere near as interesting as him vs any of the top 5 at 170.

Nothing wrong with catch-weight. Doesn't risk the LW title being vacated if GSP wins but I don't think Khabib wants to pass up another defense and I'm sure GSP wants the third title.

Khabib has always said that GSP is the greatest UFC athlete and has nothing to prove by fighting him, he's not trying to bully him into coming down in weight or fighting handicapped lol

Khabib also said they can do it at 160.

He's been asking for the GSP fight for a while, when GSP was a bit younger, for ex at UFC 223.

Khabib is pushing for it because it's his father's dream fight more so than his own wish.

In this 209 video he talks about it at 6 min 45 seconds, and this is 2.5 years ago.

Oh give me a break. The reason Nurmagomedov is champ in the first place is he picked up the *vacant* belt in his fight with Iaquinta. If you regard him as the legitchamp now, then there is no reason whoever next wins a vacant lightweight belt couldn't be legitimated.
