Heck Islam's performances just this year eclipses Gaethje's. Islam finished 2 dangerous strikers in Dober and Hooker without really getting touched, and he submitted a BJJ black belt in Moises, who has never been finished before.
Gaethje won a 29-28 against Chandler. It was fun fight yes, but I wouldn't consider that performance better than Islam's last 3, let alone his last 9.

Idk, I just really don't like the idea of someone getting a second TS off of 1 win from their first TS. Gaethje had a TS last year and lost, and now he only has one decision win since then.

Between the 3 TS contenders (Islam, Daruish, Gaethje) I really think Gaethje is least deserving and definitely needs another win to get the TS.

I get that, I'm honestly tired of arguing about it because I don't think any of them deserve it.

We all agree they should be trying to fight someone else right? Oliveira and Poirier hasn't even happened, these guys could all fit another fight in and then fight for the belt.
 
Guy has 3 elite LW wins , runs off and retires and now thinks his buddy who has a single top 10 win deserves the title shot. Fuck off khabib.

I think Islam is amazing, could easily see him being number one, I just want to see him fight the best guys as many times as possible. And I really value guys like Gaethje who have been fighting the best for a while now.

You guys realize Islam will get the belt, defend it two or three times once or twice a year and dip right? That means we have 3-4 Islam fights left if he gets the next shot, would rather see him against a top guy like Gaethje or Dariush before he gets the shot. Make these guys work.

Islam literally said the exact opposite of what you’re claiming lol. He said in the post fight interviews that the UFC will probably give him one more fight before the title even though he deserves it now. So he doesn’t intend to sit out.

Your last sentence really says it all. If Islam waits for big fights he’s inactive, if he stays busy you say “well he’s fighting bums of course it’s easy to stay busy”. There’s no winning lol.

Dustin and Gaethje can have their rematch after Dustin loses the title to Islam (or if Oliveira happens to beat Dustin).

The fans' wish to see a certain rematch shouldn't slow down the rightful title contender.

I think Islam vs Dariush should fight for the shot at the winner of Oliveira vs Poirier. Neither Islam nor Dariush deserve it just yet imo, but the winner of their fight does imo.

Gaethje will probably need a decent time to recover from that Chandler fight anyway.

But it's about WHO you beat as well.
Most of Islam's 9 wins are against near 40 year old now retired nobody's.
Hooker is his highest ranked win... but let's be honest, Dan is a journeyman on borrowed time.

Yeah Justin has a better win because he was given the opportunity to fight big fights. Islam had to go on an 8 fight win streak just to get a top 10 opponent. They aren’t exactly getting the same opportunities. Gaethje basically just fought for a title and got finished. How many times are we gonna give him another bite at the Apple before other guys get their chance?

They are pushing for a shot, so yeah he is, hope that's not how it works out though.

Yes there is winning, by fighting top guys. I'm not biased against Islam bro. Really would just like to see him fight one top 5 guy and get a TS.

Best case scenario for me is he and Gaethje fight for the shot.

Chandler actually sounded respectful in this pre-fight interview (timestamped), I don't blame him for what he said at the press conference because his job there was to promote UFC 268....gaethje on the other hand has been nothing but bitter towards Islam for the past few months:

Well yeah Gaethje had to do that too at one point in his career, everyone does. Then you get there and become an established name which puts you in a different category than the guys that haven't fought the top guys yet.

Answer this though, don't you think neither clearly deserves a shot and both need another big win to solidify their argument for a shot?
