Come on... Justin fought Tony when he was on a 12 fight UFC win streak. Tony was on a better run than Islam at the time Justin fought him.

Yes since Justin destroyed him he hasn't looked the same, but Tony was pretty much the hardest fight Justin could have had at the time outside of Khabib.

I always thought Tony Ferguson was easy to hit, got dropped easy, and was gifted easy marks like Kevin Lee, Anthony Pettis, then Donald Cerrone.

I considered him overrated AF to be completely honest.

Do you really think Tony Ferguson stood a chance against Gilbert Burns, either fist-fighting or on the ground?

It's actually better to have not fought top competition than to have fought top competition and already been brutally finished multiple times. He has had his shot. We can't say whether the same would happen to Islam, so because of that he is the more preferable contender
 
Agreed, Justin had his opportunity and it wasn't that long ago. Justin should fight Islam, Islam deserves a title eliminator.
 
It's dishonest favoritism, putting your teammate above the sport. Gaethje's fought the best, just beat a top 5 guy and is ranked #2, so there is a order. Islam beat 1 top 10 guy. That is what matters more than 9 in a row.

Khabib trains almost daily with Islam and he fought with Gaethje too.

He knows which of the two deserves a TS more

Whether he's earned it or not, what's the point of giving him a title shot just for him to lose it to Islam next fight anyway. I think for marketability they would rather have an extra title defence on Islam's record which is why Islam will get the shot

Not a single one of the top 5 deserve a title shot. Set up a title eliminator in January/February between two of Islam, Dariush & Geathje so that the champion by then will have a legitimate challenger.

Also to the Khasuals who keep hating on Chandler for being 1-2 in the UFC...

Typically a title challenger is blocked from future title shots by the champion he lost to. Justin's champion, Khabib, is now retired and free's him up for another shot. It's not rocket science. And it's pretty clear Dana is going to give Justin the title shot.

They just fought in Abu Dhabi, so they're not going back there for about a year. Islam needs another fight and his first top 5 win (Dariush) then they can schedule his title shot for Abu Dhabi next year.
