You would think something like this would have been planned out by a dedicated team far in advance.

Obviously, you cant predict fighter availability because there are too many factors, but you need your 2nd choice, 3rd choice, and 4th choice options planned and ready to go before you even begin the buildup to this event.

Pereira's:

- one of their biggest stars
- one of their most exciting fighter
- last fought in October and usually fights 3x a year
- can fight in 3 different weight classes (which for the 3rd centennial event could've been key if he moved to HW)
- LHW champ would headline by default given he's the heaviest undisputed champ with Jon injured and Aspinall only an interim champ
