Media Khabib on being called Coach of the Year "I dont like this, coach of the year is 100% Javier Mendez"

Javier is an overrated coach.

but he’s 10x the coach Khabib is based on sample of sustained success. Khabib being a second generation coach and having been raised in a system all his life has the potential to be a great coach though.

I’m not a Khabib nor DC fan, but this sounds like cope. Was Luke Rockhold’s success luck as well?
Javier the most overrated coach of the century lol, hasnt done shit, dude hit a lottery getting guys like DC (Olympian) and Khabib (world combat sambo champ) khabib dont even listen to mendez during fights, he listen more to Islam

Khabib says he is not really a coach. He is just doing this to make up for Abdulamanap's absense with the guys he came up with who need that kind of training. He is reluctant about this being a full time thing, because of the other business he has to take care of.

For coach of the year maybe Khabib. I'm not sure Khabib or Javier deserve credit though. This guy is/was the best coach.......

All the other coaches get guys as adults usually once they're already somewhat good, this dude molded his own kid into a GOAT

Khabib doesn't like being called Coach of the Year.

Add this to the list of things he dislikes.

Timestamped.

Basically Khabib is saying people are calling him coach of the year cause he has a name and is famous as a fighter. However he disagress with the media and fans and says he would need decades to even touch Javier as a coach. Javier Mendez is the one who coaches and should be awarded that title. Khabib is doing his job helping and cornering.

100% class from the GOAT of Lw division. Always so humble

As much as I am pro-Khabib, it is silly that he gets that title and Khabib is right saying he doesn't deserve that title. Like others have mentioned, it's Trevor Wittman who deserves it.
I remember Abdulmanap was quite complimentary of Javier's teaching methods and even admitted he'd use it for his fighters (I believe this was when Khabib fought Dustin in Abu Dhabi a few years back).

I'd say Whitman. Can't argue with AKA success but that always seemed like a gym filled with fighters who coach each other and specialist grapplers implementing obvious plans.
AKA is really good at scouting top tier talent that they then sharpen by rounding out their skill set but how many guys are trained from the ground up at AKA and become top tier fighters? I think Rockhld is the only one I can think of who won a belt. Maybe the early gen AKA fighters like Fitch, Kos, and Swick but those guys didn't accomplish nearly as much compared to Khabib, DC, Cain, and Rockhold.

Whitman has Gaethje and Thug Rose as long time pupils and Usman seems to have improved a lot under Whitman.

According to Javier, khabib is very much the coach for his team these days, he does every thing. But javier is the one who designs the game plans even though Khabib is always there discussing things with him. Khabib may not like it, but he is very much the coach of his team.
