Media Khabib breaks down Du Plessis vs Chimaev, advises Chimaev to strike with him

Khabib likely wants khamzat to lose because wrestling him is clearly the best path to victory lol

Well it's a championship fight, if Chimaev goes for broke with the grappling and DDP survives (like Usman did) Chimaev probably won't have enough gas in the tank to win the last 3 rounds. Will be interesting to see what his approach is.

Could be the less exciting option if Chimaev doesn't go for the kill as usual, but I think his chances of winning a slower kickboxing fight would be pretty good if he went into this fight with a more patient gameplan than normal.

If chimaev figures out how to balance his aggression to function in a 5 round fight then he could become a very dominant champ. This could be the fight to unveil it, but I believe chimaev might not be able to switch to such a drastic change in style so suddenly based off his career performances. But we shall see

I highly doubt Khamzat will take Khabib’s advice, and tbh, I don’t think he should. If he went out there and just struck with DDP a couple rounds he might have less success with the grappling when they’re all sweaty, and Khamzat wont have the same energy at that point. He’ll never be able to live with himself if he loses without having fought his fight. He should do what got him here, go for the kill in Rd 1.

also crazy to try a different approach completely for the first time in a title fight

Dricus has basic striking but its effective because of his durability and pressure. Khamzat is not trading with him alot, its going to be mainly setting up clinches and wrestling. Either way I dont think Khamzat can keep him down enough or outpace in 5 rounds. Dricus will outlast him.

Khabib trying to gaslight other caucasus fighters into losing so his own padded record looks superior. Khabib out here with 15 amateur can crushes on his record and Darrel Horcher as one of his top 10 wins acting like he's some GOAT. You lost to Tibau and ducked every grappler after that in the UFC lil bro, you're not good!

Stakes are high. Khamzat should stick to what he does best and not experiment in such a high stakes fight where he is trying to get the belt. Khabib is not giving him great advice there to strike with a former K-1 kickboxing champion with a 32-0 record and also someone who outweighs him with one-punch knockout power.

In theory Khabib is probably right -- it's a huge risk for Khamzat to go all-out like usually does in rounds 1/2.

But at the same time, I'm a believer that people should stick with what made them successful, until it stops working. Khamzat more than likely goes for the round 1 takedown + sub.

I like Khamzat, but there are still some questions. He barely got by Usman and Burns--both smaller guys that are way past their best; he likely would have lost to both had those fights been 5 rounds.

DDP is in his prime, on a streak, and huge -- Khamzat has faced nobody even close to him. If DDP can survive the 1st round, it just may be his easiest fight in years.

Khamzat pacing himself gives him a better chance to win. Trying to bum rush someone like DDP looking for a finish early isn't smart. Imo if he tries to it will back fire and DDP will finish Khamzat in later rounds. If burns was able to put Khamzat on skates in later rounds, DDP most certainly can too.
