What's the name of that rifle again? Go titanium lol. Naw, that looks like it will be just fine. That's nice and pricey. I'd be more inclined to give the $15 Strike option a look.

Haha no problem.Sure, throw that in my face.![]()
^^^^^^ No way. I love my biohazard pins.
<now scheduled for 2017: all-titanium build>
These won't last if you want one.
Hahaha yeah, I thought about getting one thinking the price would be like double the standard one but when they dropped at $300 I was like well, I can't justify that at all.$299!

So getting back to my Spike's build, I was toying around with ideas for the upper. I've got a nice Battle Arms billet and this Aero Precision without the forward assist. The BA would be an easy choice but the rear pin is tight as fuck (as in I need to use something to punch it out) and it disagrees with the Troy BAD lever. I could deal with the lever issue but the pin is a dealbreaker. The AP fits fine and would work no problem but there's an engraving of the American flag. That's all well and good, but to me it clashes a bit with the Spike's logo/theme. Third option is a Spike's upper (which I'm leaning towards).

There appears to be two other choices in that photo but there's really only one, the barrel. At the bottom is Daniel Defense 5.56, 16", 1/7 twist, carbine-length gas. Above that is a Voodoo Innovations model that's the same except for being mid-length. One of the BCG's was a package deal with the Voodoo barrel and the other is a Crosshill Technologies model. They look identical except one has the bolt marked MP and the other engraved with MPI. In spite of that I'll just keep the VI BCG with the VI barrel.
I put together a couple options. I'm rather enamored with the first look already, but I figured it can't hurt to play around with it.
Option 1: Basically this but get a Spike's slickside upper to replace this AP. Switch out that Reaper fake can for the Spike's spider logo version (might as well go all in with that logo at this point). Decide if I want an adjustable gas block or stick with the inexpensive low profile one I have. Use the VI barrel and BCG. 12" handguard. I'd run this with an optic only (which I have no idea on yet).
Ignore the 40rd. Magpul. I wanted a mag just to see and grabbed that one without much thought. Looking more I think this needs one of those new 60rd Magpul drums....or a straight-body 20rd.

Option 2. Still get a Spike's slickside upper to replace this AP. Use this 9" handguard and put the railed gas block on and run it with iron sights only or add an optic. Swap out the fake can with this Ares Armor brake (or Miculek, Precision Armament M4-72, Field Sprot 3-port). Still use the Voodoo mid-length barrel and BCG.

Have you thought about a 13.7 barrel with a pinned kx5. I'm personally not a fan of fake cans but this gives a similar look to a fake can.
I updated the OP with the new build details. The lower is done except for adding a buffer/spring. I'm leaning toward the JP Silent Capture because I really don't like the standard spring experience. Here's the pic of the (most likely) finished lower.

I know you arent going for this but I still think that would look mean with a Vltor VIS with a KX3 or something else with a kx5. A white one. Use black rail panels/covers, etc.
First off, in case I haven't already done so, I want to thank you for being a bigger geek about this stuff than me.
I do really like the KX3. With handguards though I'm gong through a bit of an anti-rail phase. I'm really into tactile comfort. The difference between grabbing the JP/VTac on Pretty Penny and the ARMS S.I.R. on my Rec7 is huge. Plus I really like the look of free-float tubes. So I need to get a couple builds with these out of my system. And one HAS to have the look where the handguard overlaps the muzzle device (fake can or KX3?).
I could see going with something like this at some point. There's another one I like better but I forget who makes it and I can't find a pic. I want to do a fluted barrel build so this would be a good handguard for that.

I could possibly see this on the Jack build, cerakoted white. Hmmmmmmm.
By the way, in the spirit of naming guns, I'm leaning toward "Bare Bones" for The Jack. That's partly because I'm keeping this one simple, including not having a forward assist, dust cover, BUIS, or any other bells and whistles. The KNS pins would be the only exception, but since they kinda look like bones...
As an aside, I'm having trouble with the RRA 2-stage I put in "Bones". The trigger doesn't want to reset if you let it out real slow. Before I took it out and put it back in the trigger would not spring back if you took up the 1st stage but didn't pull through the 2nd stage. I guess I'll switch out the spring and see what that does. They're simple enough to install and I'm pretty sure it's in there correctly. It's gotta be the spring?
There are quite a few handguards out there that would fit that.

I know you already have the RRA trigger but a skeletonized trigger would be perfect.
