Keo that sucks to hear about the federation drama. I've done 1 NASA meet and 2 APF meets and in Illinois the APF meets were much bigger and well run.

Also interesting to note a local bouncer I talked to recently at the bar is a UPA lifter and doing the same meet in July.

Thanks, man. And that's very cool--I've already run into a few people who are doing this meet. It should be a good time.

Pun intended?

lol, yes.

You're only about two inches or so shorter than Ed Coan right? It's time to start getting hoooge brah.

Jeez, I guess so. My fat ass will just start cutting more weight.

How tall/short was Coan?

LA's right; 5'6".

Yeah; he started as a 148 and ended his career at 275. That's pretty insane.

Update on my magnesium citrate situation: it's been almost nine hours and I still haven't gone. My incredible body apparently does not give a fuck.

I don't disclose everything on this forum, so I'll just say this and be done with it: for about the last nine months, I've had some difficulty with my digestive system. For a long time, I've resisted seeing a doctor, simply because I thought I'd figure it out.

If you must know, my bowels aren't regular, and sometimes I go for days without anything. Once every few days, I'll eat a meal and get pretty sick; the cruel joke in all of this is that it's always chicken and rice or chicken and vegetables that does it (I have NEVER had a problem with a cheat meal--my stomach handles shitty food just fine). This has happened I-don't-even-know-how-many-times over the last year.

The biggest reason why I continue to refuse to seek help is because I don't want some doctor to tell me to change my diet, mostly because I'm always so concerned about my weight. Obviously, that's a dumb reason, and I need to get it together. I'll call the doctor on Monday and try to get myself an appointment.

That's crazy. I legitimately poop everyday at 9am 7 seven days a week for like the last 10 years.

That's completely foreign to me. My body doesn't work like that. And in this past year, it's gotten worse.

Last year I was dealing with some gut pain and didn't think much of it. Just soldiered on. When I finally went into the hospital they said I was days away from a full blown ulcer. So I think seeking help is a good idea.

Hope it's not serious bro. Sounds rugged.

I've been told that anything from three times daily to once every three days is normal, but if you're getting sick regularly I think that would affect your weight more than a slight diet change, no?

I couldn't imagine going days without pooping. However, funny this conversation is going since I did miss a poop the day before my meet last weekend. And as far as my memory serves, that's the only day I can remember ever missing a poop. I'm usually a twice a day kind of guy: 10am and 2pm.

This is how almost every day in my life starts:

1. get up
2. poop
3. have breakfast
4. proceed with the rest of my day

Keo, didn't you mention you eat something like 300+ g of protein per day? Adjusting your diet really doesn't sound like a bad idea.

From today:

Deadlift
135x3
225x3
315x3
415x3
465x1
480x10
480x4
480x4
480x4
415x10

Face Pulls, five sets

Lat Pulldowns, five sets

External Rotations, two sets

Notes: I'm still working on this wider stance for deadlifts; it doesn't always feel great, but I must admit that it's speeding up my lockout. 480x10 was a marathon set, but I was really happy in how strong my lockout looked even at the end. Four months ago, I did 465x9 for kicks, so at the very least, my deadlift rep work has increased. Whether that translates into a bigger 1RM is to be seen, but this is all very encouraging.

I'm going to make the commitment right now to see this style of deadlift training out until the end of the year, so as to make a more accurate judgment on its efficacy (this is barring injury, of course). Maybe it will lead to something crazy, like a 600-lb. pull before the end of 2013. One can only hope, I guess.

Also, thank you everyone for the diet input. I wrote this in the Pub, but I'll write it here again: the comments were very helpful, and they convinced me to try and tweak my diet to introduce a lot more fiber into it. I'm still going to see a doctor, but I hope this will be the first step toward being more regular with my shit-cycle.

I'm not used to that wide stance yet. Still looks so weird since I've watched so many of your videos with the close stance. But you look solid in that position. 480 x 10 is heroic. IF I could do that, I would be on the floor cursing everyone around me afterwards. Kudos to you to be able to walk away like you just did a warm up set lol

Sounds brutal, Keo. Hope all goes well for you health-wise.

Just noticed you do all your sets double over hand and in one set without wraps....serious grip strength there!!

Keo...
I was going to ask what your fiber intake was, but it looks like its somehting you've considered already.

ANyway, let us know what the doc says. I'd be interested in knowing what they say...

Yeah, I wasn't terribly fatigued afterwards--I think just doing a lot of volume pulling this training cycle has helped with that.

And the wider stance still feels weird for me, too. I'm not sure what I'll do at my meet--I'll probably just go with whatever stance feels best, and I'll be prepared to change in case I miss an attempt and have to repeat it.

Thank you, I appreciate that.

Nah, don't be impressed--those are wrist straps. I've been using them for a lot of my pulling sets; whenever my hands have had enough, I throw them on. The increased volume in my pulling has made sustaining my grip very difficult through these training sessions.

Will do. Hopefully everything turns out OK.

When Ed Coan offers advice it's best to apply it.

Agreed. I hate tinkering with my technique in such a radical way, particularly this close to a meet, but on the ride home, I thought to myself, "what the hell is the point of going to a seminar if you're just going to keep doing what you're doing?" It's really difficult for me to take advice sometimes, but I'm forcing myself to do this.

So uh.... what do you do for cardio?? trolololol.

That's a marathon of a set.
