Keosawa's Powerlifting Log

Hmmm how about making that rod Stewart song your ringtone? Have someone strategically call during the date? All joking aside, having a stable gf is quite nice and im sure you'll get everything figured out. Keep up the great lifting! Love stopping in here to learn something.

lol, thanks man. I'm not exactly desperate to jump back into something, but it has been a while. At least I have training to distract me.

Women weaken the legs...

Considering my squat already sucks, I don't think I have too much to worry about.

Shooting started today. I filmed parts of this workout, and I'll continue filming most days to acquire as much footage as possible. I'll keep stockpiling it and I'll see if there's a film to be made here. I might post some of today's footage just to see how it looks; I shot everything in 720p, so I'm hoping the quality is on-point.

How's your sumo pull coming along Keo? Arlec is helping me work on my form right now over at his site. I've noticed a positive difference in a week, it's amazing what OH squats can do to keep a fat immobile **** like me upright.

It's coming, man. I pulled an ugly 480 a few weeks ago (not because it was hard, but because I decided to fuck technique and just rip it) and I think I'm good for close to 500 now. What's cool is that I've put close to a hundred pounds on it by doing almost only speed work; I very rarely pull heavy sumo-style.

I got a real kick out of this when I saw it today. The message is unscientific hyperbole, but at its core, it's true.

I'm halfway through, And I'm agreeing. Last year at this time I would've disagreed completely. Now, It's like "sure ?".

I don't think the average person will at any point in their life experience "over training". Average gym-goer included. However the emotional excitation attached to a maximal lift can be very taxing on the various support systems in the body. The bloc didn't spend millions of dollars in funny money looking into something that was made up or impossible. Without going into the adaptation to imposed demands shenanigans they built, arguably, the most successful lifting machines ever using said research. However it all pertains to athletes within the system. Not joe-schmoe average bencher guy.

The real issue is that your average person using the term "over training" hasn't the foggiest idea what "training smart" is. I'd say 99.9% of the issue comes from those chaps.

Do you think your relatively narrow squat stance helps your deadlift?

god damnit, thanks for posting that video. the end quote "the road the nowhere is paved by excuses"...not sure where its from...gotta hang that shit up somewhere i can read it daily

Bell's power project videos always make my day. He's got a lot of really insightful ones.

Maybe a little bit, yeah. I don't know how much of a carryover there is, but there is some.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the video. Yes, Bell's videos are great: I watch both Power Project and his training videos when they come out. SuperTraining.TV is the site that houses all of them.

Let me explain the sumo deadlift PR: I finished my second work set for squats and went to watch someone else on our team attempt a 485-lb. deadlift. After he failed, we talked a bit about sumo deadlifting, and I just figured I'd give it a shot. I pulled 485 without too much difficulty and felt like I had 500+ in me. I don't normally try for PRs without doing any warm-ups, but I felt okay after doing some squats and went for it.

The squats went well. I don't feel super confident in my technique right now, but 370x7 was a "seven-rep" PR (not that I even keep track of such a thing).

LOL

Did you watch the season three premiere on Sunday, belph?

Nah, I've really only seen clips of the show, I'm know I'm missing a great comedy, but I always forget to DVR it.

ok, cool. Ive just been reading on some finnish deadlifters, and most of them squatted with narrow stance according to my googling skills. Just wondering if you've felt the same way. Great PR btw!
