Kentucky Derby...and Beyond?

Tailed you guys with Nyquist/Cherry Wine/Exaggerator in a few trifectas and exactas. Also took Cherry Wine to win and show. I can't watch the race live, but I'll check it out when I get home. Best of luck guys and thanks again for all the great info.

I was told that the filly who broke down earlier today had broken through the starting gate before the race began. Shit pisses me off. When a horse does something like that they should be an automatic scratch. Not only to protect the horse, since a quick vet check isn't going to tell you the whole truth of what the horse may have done to itself by breaking through. There's not any War Admiral types nowadays who used to always break through the gate and then squash his fields despite his injuries. But you also have to protect the public's betting interest by scratching those as well. Whether they are hurting or not those horses who break through almost never ever run well after doing so.

Dazzling Gem is looking pretty excellent in the post parade for this Sir Barton. Kinda wished I had pulled the trigger on him even if he is sitting at 2/1 right now.

Stradivari is back up to 8/1. Interesting. Either that big earlier bet was pulled or that those earlier odds after the bet weren't indicating the pool as a whole. My guess is the latter since my initial thoughts were that the bet was much larger than $80,000 in order to drop his odds that much.

Sharkey, pretty impressed by your breakdown, you mentioned the only way Nyquist loses is if another horse challenges him early..it happened.

Sorry Shark, tough loss man, exaggerator finally caught him. Great b/d of the race, though, I know it doesn't equate into money but you called it pretty perfectly save for exaggerator winning. You knew the top three horses all the way. Anyway that is a tough L to take dude, sorry.

Just wanted to say again, though, thank you as always for the info and knowledge that you put into these races. I hit a really nice payoff with Cherry Wine to show at 5-1 thanks to your input. This is a great thread man.

Congrats man. Way to go. I know it's tough when you miss out on the super by such a small margin, but at least you made some nice money to help lessen the pain a little.

Watched the Arkansas earlier again for good luck and just like Creator Cherry was dead last or close to it before he made his run, wonder if he was a little bit closer to the pace earlier if he could've gotten to Exaggerator. Seems like he took advantage of the rail to close the distance then make his run.

For sure, can't wait till the next race.

I boxed the trifecta with Exaggerator/Cherry Wine/Nyquist and had Cherry Wine to show at +500. Thanks for the tips Sharkey!! Sucks you didn't hit anything after giving everyone all this great info. Hopefully you'll make up for it next race

Cherry Wine was beaten by about 3 lengths wasn't he? Tough to see him make up that much of a difference had he moved earlier. Maybe he could have closed the gap a little with a different type of run, but who knows. More energy he uses early the less he would have late. He did go right by Exaggerator on the gallop out, though, so he did still have some energy left.

Governor Malibu is going to get me paid in the Belmont. I think. I hope. He fits a lot of what I look for in a Belmont horse, though, and could be north of 25/1. Or maybe 20/1 now that the Triple Crown isn't on the line there.
