Kentucky Derby...and Beyond?

Almost time. Let's go Governor Malibu

Hell yes. Awesome hit and great race! Shark you are the man.

It looked like Governor Malibu tried to make his move and just didn't have the space along the rail.

Governor Malibu had a lot of run at that point and looked like a winner the whole way to me. I'm obviously bias, but I think he actually is the winner if Gettysburg doesn't cut him off coming for home.

I saw it the same way. Tough break for you man, sorry

Always Bet the Grey?

1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the Belmont.

If anyone else had Creator to win on 5dimes, double check your account. They initially graded mine as a loss, but I spoke with customer service and they fixed it. I'm assuming they fixed it across the board, but just a heads up

Governor Malibu had a run at Destin and was blocked at the 2:15 mark by the horse who lost by a nose. Then he gets blocked by Gettysburg a few seconds later losing all momentum. Tough break because the way he recovered after that to finish 4th says the jockey still had a whole lot of horse left. That's racing, though.

<<<<<<<<<<<<< @BluntTrauma21's favourite horse of all time?

Haha, yessir, said the exact thing to everyone after I calmed down, what a fucking close. He did it again at the last second, what a horse, man. Kind of a funny story, I was watching the race with some friends and most of them were just rooting for Malibu and Creator b/c I bet it but they didn't have any money on it. My bro bet on the same horses as me, though, but unlike me he doesn't find the ponies nearly as exciting as he does stressful.

When Creator and Destin were nose and nose and it looked like Creator edged it, my brother, who's usually a pretty calm dude, jumped up and the only way I can explain it was he went back to puberty, lol, he just jumped up out of his seat and squeaked something that nobody understood b/c of his Mariah Carey pitched yelling, he doesn't remember what he was trying to say either but easily the most excited he's ever been betting on any sport in awhile. He won't live that one down for awhile, lol.

Won about half as much as i would have if Malibu got it done but still extremely happy. I agree with you guys, Malibu was in really good position but got blocked off a couple of times trying to make that late run. Destin or somebody blocked him first then him and Creator seemed to fight for the same small opening and Creator squeezed in before him which kind of sucked b/c they were both horses I was rooting for. Bitter sweet. Malibu had a really good run, though, would've rather it been him but can't complain after that finish. What a race.

Yeah I noticed it initially too, figured they'd fix it eventually but always hate it when they fuck stuff up like that, thanks for getting on them to do it. Sportsbook such suckers compared to the racebook. We got 20-1 when he closed at 10-1 iirc.

Haha. That's awesome, Blunt. Congrats to both you and your brother. Good times. I'm down over $200 on the day, but you know what? I'm still pretty happy about the whole thing. Got to see some good racing today, some big performances (like Frosted), and it was capped off with the horse you and I had pegged before almost anybody winning the big one. Is that guy a runner or what? And he can run it a long ways as we talked about months ago. Creator had a lot of naysayers going into the race today spouting some blah, blah, blah bullshit about whatever. But this fucking horse can run, and I'm so happy he got the clean trip to show it again unlike in the Derby when everything went wrong for him. Congrats again, my man. There's not an ounce of doubt in my mind that we were on the two best horses for this race in Creator and Governor Malibu.

Thanks man. If it wasn't for you I would never have known about Creator let alone fall in love with that fucker if you hadn't turned me onto him for the Arkansas and that race he ran. You've got a really good mind with horses man, and you've helped me and others win a ton of money with your b/d's and info itt and going all the way back to my old thread in the boxing section. Wanted to thank you again. Appreciate it all, my friend.

Cheers Blunt. You picked him to win this race, though, so the great pick that he was is all on you today. That was 100% your decision. In fact, I was tailing you a little with the way I tried to use him today.

I'm learning from the best.

Can you share his name with me then? It's obviously not me since I've lost every single dollar I bet during this year's Triple Crown races. Haha. Oh God. My wife is going to kill me when she gets home.

This Triple Crown has been a whole lot of fun guys even if I personally didn't cash a single bet on any of the three races. Thanks to all of you who played along in the quest to make a buck along the way.

You know, if you look back to the first page of this thread I think the horses that profiled best on all that data that was compiled going into the Derby were Creator, Exaggerator, Gun Runner, Suddenbreakingnews and Nyquist. That group produced a Belmont winner. A Preakness winner and Derby runner-up. A 3rd place Derby finisher. And then the Derby winner and 3rd place Preakness finisher. Not bad at all. We also landed on the right horses that were new to the Triple Crown series when we singled out 2nd place finisher Cherry Wine as a longshot to play in the Preakness and then again today with Governor Malibu and his troubled 4th in the Belmont. Whether we structured our wagers properly around our opinions in order to cash a ticket along the way or not, I think we as a group at least had the right idea on what horses had the best chances to run well through all three races.

Hopefully we can keep this thread going through the summer. Still a lot of big races left for these 3 year-olds that we've been learning so much about this spring, as well as some newer talents like Unified and Gift Box, who look like real runners that can challenge what we've seen so far.

Very very solid info from you in this thread Sharkey, i learn a lot, appreciate it!

Too bad i was a pussy and only put a 20 spot on Creator.
