Yeah I'm not for accelerationism. I have family members and friends who would be killed or exiled first in that scenario.

Thats a two way street. Theres many who will not survive if the system stabilizes and survives for years and years.

Also humanitys cooked if capitalism doesn't fall very very soon.

Jesus Christ, at least open up a history book. Actually, just google communism instead of going on Reddit.

It was never real communism. Real communism hasn't been tried ...or something like that.

I'm not going to speak as if I can relate to Gaza, because I cannot and its sickening. That being said I've seen systemic collapse here on a small scale. It's not going to go anything like any idealogs think, be they far right Cristofascists or far left actors with fantasies of being Che. Neither you nor I are going to be able to do anything while defending ourselves from roaming bands of marauders who believe they are purifying the land. And regardless of how prepared we believe we are to deal with that, almost no one truly is.

Humanity is also cooked if reformists and revolutionaries dont stop bickering long enough to usurp the small vulnerable systems the same exact way the fascists are trying to. It's not difficult and doesnt takes less time than rebuilding an entire Nation.

That's the other weird thing about Walz; apparently everyone actually likes him. All the Congressional Democrats from Nancy Pelosi to Bernie and AOC were pulling for him.
He’s like the Joe Pesci of the Dems, a man who can get things done.

You are actively supporting authoritarians that want your system and way of life destroyed. You people would be more respectable if you just admitted the shit that you do. Still disgusting manchildren, but at least more honest with yourselves.

the inherent problem about debating the VP pick is that this thread has to become a megathread about LGBTQ, abortion, and all the other issues rolled into one. and how are you those separate threads doing? not well...thousands of posts that end up going nowhere which is what we can only assume with this one.

Capitalism falling doesn't automatically equal a parade, especially depending on how it falls which I'm not convinced can't/won't happen organically via necessity and reformation (I'm being very careful not to speak in certainties). If/when it falls (never mind how...), something has to take its place. That something is not guaranteed to be better and could be far worse and anything resembling a fair system is anything but a guarantee, especially if the circumstances are dire and disorganized. All accelerationists should bear that in mind. Be careful what you wish for.

What is my "way of life" oh great sage?

Tim waltz is not a far left nutjob, if he were he wouldn’t have won by such a significant margin in Minnesota. And of course you think that, you’re a hardcore republican . And it’s funny when you call democrats far left nut jobs when they’ve won the last four presidential elections by 25 million votes cumulatively…..
Who would you consider a far left nutjob and what are they to the left of Tim Walz on?

How does getting 52% of the vote in Minnesota prove he's not a far left nutjob? It's less than he got the previous election, and Ilhan Omar won her last election in Minnesota by 50 points.

they put 2 communists on the ticket whose policies feature open borders, inflation, and child castration and the polling has it close. god help america if they win.

can any of you actually defend their platform instead of just huffing their fumes? like for real, maybe it's time we had a real convo on sherdog.

Not the worst pick as far as his demographics but in my opinion it was a lost opportunity in not picking a damn astronaut.

My criteria was "Caucasian, cis, straight, Christian, male, moderate, no serious background issues"

This list seems terrible however the point is this is not about me but about the average swing voters some of whom are distrustful and uneasy about two women ticket, Jewish candidate, gay candidate, etc.

My top pick was Mark Kelly. My second pick was Andy Bashear.

I am a fan of Pete B. and other candidates are solid options like Shapiro or Whitmer but I am afraid that they'd sink the ticket. Last time around there were people openly saying they wanted to change their vote when they found out Pete B. was gay and married to a man.

Walz is an alright option but he also looks old relative to his age. Compare Walz with UK prime minister who's a year older. It's tough to prod Trump about his age when Democratic VP doesn't look much younger despite being almost two decades younger. Optics are huge.

You're not going to get very far with this argument. I respect ferris as a poster but this debate is just one of conflicting ideology and almost every accelerationist I've ever met tends to make apologia for the crushingly oppressive or destructive things that happen in the wake of systemic collapse. But that's what having a utopian ideology allows for, a lack of pragmatism as long as the ideology remains sound in their view. It's ok if we get a few generations of being North Korea, so long as eventually that collapses as well.

Walz was likely picked because of his Midwest Dad energy, plus his rhetorical aggression. He just doesnt back down from Republicans and his messaging is well-executed. I also favored Bashear just because I wanted to see an actual Appalachain go in on Vance, and for his appeal to rural voters. Pete B is also good rhetorically, but he is handling himself well in his position, and I do think adding a gay man to the ticket could be more costly in areas that are now easier to capture. The moderates and independents.
