His tarrifs were overly broad and poorly thought out, and did nothing but add costs to American families and cripple farmers. China didn’t buy any more exports after the trade war than they did before, the whole thing was one big, dumb costly mess. Biden’s tariffs were more targeted.

To be fair Trump was campaigning on the China stuff starting in 2015 and the Dems including it in their 2016 platform could've been a way to try and co-opt those talking points in response to seeing how popular they seemed to be.

The biggest issue is that Trump went after American trade partners and showed the world how unreliably America had become under Trump, scrapping the TPP pretty much told all of Asia that American promises go as far as 4 years election cycles.
