Kaepernick: Admoration, hatred, why is this a story? Merge Thread

racism doesn't exist if you're rich?

Pure stupidity.

Also the entire college football system is basically exploiting athletes for a "free education" while the colleges make billions of dollars off of their blood sweat and tears.

You ever read up on bowl games. No one cares about the players. They're used to make money.

It's really that simple.
They get a free education so that they can play football?

His employer says there is no requirement for him to stand so he has a right to sit in protest. And there is no law against not standing and there should not be as a 1st amendment right.

However there is the other side of free speech. People that don't like his disrespect of the flag have every right to protest this with their voice and their money and if in the end he lost his job and money, well that's part of free speech also.

He'll blame his inevitable failure this season on oppression and racism too.

I mean, that's the only reason why he would fail. It has to be.

Hard to stand up for a race being oppressed when you are the 1%. That is pretty clear.

How is the college football system racist? I think they should be paid. But how is it racist?

He also said any backlash or loss of endorsement money is a sure sign he is right that he is oppressed.
You would think the null hypothesis would be that of if there was no loss of sponsorship , oppression isn't real

Pretty convenient how that doesn't creep into the discussion

The USA is so racist and oppresses 'PoC' so horribly, 'PoC' from around the world constantly migrate there.

That could be said for Saudi Arabia also. Poc from around the world constantly migrate there.

There you have it folks. If you're rich, you cannot make a stand against racism for it obviously does not exist, for you as a rich person is evidence that racism does not exist.

America where a black man can make millions at a job he sucks at.

Probably just trying to get cut or traded, he is absolutely terrible and can't even out play Blaine freaking Gabbert.

I could really give two shits about his "protest."

He comes across as an entitled out of touch jock throwing a tantrum.

Getting all pissy about it is just giving him undue attention.

Everyone loves some freedom of expression, until someone expresses themselves in a way you disagree with.

Where was he years ago when he wasn't in the NFL making millions?

Was he speaking out against racism back then?

What about when he had just joined the NFL?

Did he also speak out against racism previously and at different venues?

Why did he make a stand now, all of a sudden?

My feeling is the big schools have the best players, and sell out their giant stadiums week after week. TV rights, advertising, etc etc, the players should be able to get a taste.

Especially if your team wins a bowl game. Their should be more than a trophy.

They don't even let them get outside sponsors. The guys who don't turn pro can't make use of their degrees, because they've been placed in easy classes to compliment their training schedules. It's the worst system, it makes Zuffa look like philanthropists.

Personally, I'd like to see them get paid while they play, and receive free tuition later down the road. That way, if they don't turn pro, they can go back to school and focus on a degree that means something.

yeah and at big schools they generate tons of refune by risking their well beings week after week.

Not much you could do at some small time school but at places like Alabama the kids can get a taste of the bounty.

have you ever listened to any of the analysts? Emmit Smith, Warren Sapp, Michael Irvin?

Howie Long has talked about moments where he gets totally lost and can't follow the conversation and the other guys have to sort of cover fr him

You can't disagree with anything here. It's flat out the truth.

The so called education these players get is a crock of shit. Most players have "tutors".

imo if you play for a big ten school or big east school you should be getting a taste. Those are the best programs, with the best players and these are the kids that are getting brutalized daily. Especially if you wanna make the NFL.

These kids spend their lives getting their heads bashed in. From pee wee, into high school, college then pros.

So it's not freedom of expression to express your opinion on someone's expression of speech?

That's an interesting take on freedom of speech.

So only he has it and anyone that exercises their freedom is what, racist like this guy's says?

Some people have no idea how this freedom works.

I'm sorry, but if you want to illustrate oppression in America, you can't belong to the 1%. All these self righteous celebs who are perfect illustrations of how blacks aren't oppressed in America try to shit on the country that made them rich because its become a fad.

Ridiculous.

Saudi Arabia is 1/3 immigrant. And look at UAE and Qatar. They have more immigrants than locals.

The problem with Saudi Arabia is less to do with race and more to do with religion. Do you see non-Muslims migrating to Saudi Arabia both legally & illegally? The only non-Muslims that do migrate to Saudi Arabia are the desperately poor ones, so anything is a step up for them. The vast majority of immigrants in Saudi Arabia are Muslim.

How often is Saudi citizenship given out to non-Muslims? I'd love to see the statistics on that. Now compare that to how often citizenship is given to non-whites in the USA. There isn't even a single church in all of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia loves it foreign workers, but that's it. There is a very restrictive limit to how high you can rise in Saudi society if you're not Arab Muslim. In the USA, if you're not white, you can become the president. You can do anything you want, actually.
