Just watched the first Resident Evil

Milla's very invested in them as well. You should listen to her talk about them. She's into it.
I guess I'm not very surprised, she's the center of attention in those films and its probably a lot of fun to work on films where your husband is the director. They're just such low level schlock and she's such a beautiful women that I wish she and her husband would work together on something more substantive.

She's into it like Ian Ziering is into Sharknado. WTF else is she going to do that people might watch now?
I really like her look so if I saw her in a trailer for a decent looking movie by a talented director I'd strongly consider watching it. I actually wanted to watch that one alien abduction movie she was in because it looked good to me but apparently it was shit so I passed.
Acting-wise? Shrug.
I think some actors and actresses seem more devoid of talent than they are when they work on shit movies. Adam Sandler is one. He has potential but when he does his own thing he never pushes himself and just phones it in. I bet its not too different with Jovovich

I think motivated Adam Sandler has far, far more ability to emote and create characters. There are certainly worse actresses than Jovovich, but I don't think her ceiling is all that high.

I think she's good enough that with the right role she could shine. Sometimes the actors elevate the material; at other times the material elevates the actors.

What kind of role do you think she would shine in, in terms of her acting? What is the basis for speculating about this latent talent?

Maybe so but I bet she could at least clear the very low bar she has set with the RE movies in the hands of a talented writer and/or director.

My basis for speculation is that she's done just fine in everything she's been in. Let's not act like she's the female Casper Van Dien.

What I am saying is that if you put her into an interesting movie with an interesting plot and she was playing an interesting character, the film could be a hit. Look at what The Matrix did for Keanu Reeves.

I actually don't think Casper Van Dien is a terrible male counterpart. I mean, the guy can hit his mark and not read blatantly false while speaking. Who do you think is the appropriate comparison point for male actors?

I can agree with that. She has certainly done somewhat better in Luc Besson's hands.

I think Van Dien was good for Starship Troopers. In everything else though, he came across as pretty bad to me.

I think there's a reason he was mostly seen and not heard in Sleepy Hollow.

An appropriate comparison for male actors. . . Hmm, I'd have to think about that. But just find an actor in your mind who comes in and does a good, professional job but doesn't knock your socks off, and he will work.

Fine, she's the female Dean Cameron.

I like this franchise.

People have to remember the first one was what rebooted the Zombie genre again. It was awsome in its day when it came out in 2002. Doesn't hold up that well but i like it still like it.

Y'all need to chill on dissing it lol.

Lol at RE rebooting the zombie genre, they're hardly zombie films. I'd say 28 Days Later was more responsible for that.

Also, Milla Jovavich is the greatest female action star of all time. Her scenes are delivered very well, she doesn't come across as a feminist bitch that overacts her toughness like Michelle Rodriguez with their Ice Cube nose snears and cocked eyebrow. Milla is badass, feminine and gorgeous. As sort of a sexist in some regards, I don't mind women like this.

Why lol? Clearly it was. Next was Dawn of The Dead remake in 2004. 28 days later was rage virus outbreak. It's all part of the same genre.

As all of the same genre 28 Days later came out in 2003, so I'd slot it ahead of Dawn of The Dead remake.

I like all of these btw.

RE is more of a movie game and as a franchise it went off the rails quick. I don't think the films were a major inspiration for the zombie genre in the 21st century like 28 Days Later or Dawn of the Dead were.

She’s definitely not the greatest female action star of all time, but I also like her a lot. I loved her look in RE Extinction.

That's a bold statement.
