It’s apparently with the same director so I wouldn’t hold your breathThey are talking about a reboot so hopefully they get it right this time.

Based on a video game. I get what your saying but it's all visual and action.I went into it expecting dumb action. It's what I got, but not even an attempt at characterization? I didn't know most of their names or care if they died.
It helps your movie a lot if the audience gives a shit about the protagonist.

They’ve announced a reboot? Okay, well good luck with that. I think a lot of people with these franchises kind of put the cart before the horse. There’s a danger to that. They’ve been wanting to reboot Resident Evil for a long time, and listen: I love the Resident Evil world. I think it’s a great property, I would do it if I was a producer. I think what made Resident Evil so special is that the people involved really loved what they’re doing and really were fans of the game.
I would suggest that you find people that have that same passion for the property before you talk about reboots. I think if you get into this kind of genre, people are very sensitive to fakes. There’s some real fans in the sci-fi/action/horror world, and they’re not idiots. They can smell when something is done because people love it and when something is done just to monetize an opportunity.
Milla Jovovich's thoughts on the reboot:
Ah good. I remember reading about it when they first announced and they said it was the same guysIt's not the same director. Totally new creative team.
I've played the video game. There's more emotion conveyed by the game.Based on a video game. I get what your saying but it's all visual and action.
Resident Evil: afterlife might be one the worst films I have ever watched.I watched Resident Evil The Final Chapter last night, i knew it would be bad but fuck me it was truly awful.
Incomprehensible action scenes(2-3 cuts a second during fight scenes, extreme close ups) some of the worst editing i've ever seen.
terrible wooden acting and paper thin characters just used to advance to the next shitty action scene.
Everybody was a clone, cop out ending.
normally i don't mind these b-movie action films but this was a 2/10 experience
the sad thing is a p.o.s film like resident evil afterlife made 300 million against a 60 million budget. After RE1 and RE2 Apocalypse the series was deplorable. Movies that were so bad they should have never been released theatrically.
