Just watched the first Resident Evil

I went into it expecting dumb action. It's what I got, but not even an attempt at characterization? I didn't know most of their names or care if they died.
It helps your movie a lot if the audience gives a shit about the protagonist.
Based on a video game. I get what your saying but it's all visual and action.

Milla Jovovich's thoughts on the reboot:

They’ve announced a reboot? Okay, well good luck with that. I think a lot of people with these franchises kind of put the cart before the horse. There’s a danger to that. They’ve been wanting to reboot Resident Evil for a long time, and listen: I love the Resident Evil world. I think it’s a great property, I would do it if I was a producer. I think what made Resident Evil so special is that the people involved really loved what they’re doing and really were fans of the game.

I would suggest that you find people that have that same passion for the property before you talk about reboots. I think if you get into this kind of genre, people are very sensitive to fakes. There’s some real fans in the sci-fi/action/horror world, and they’re not idiots. They can smell when something is done because people love it and when something is done just to monetize an opportunity.

I watched Resident Evil The Final Chapter last night, i knew it would be bad but fuck me it was truly awful.

Incomprehensible action scenes(2-3 cuts a second during fight scenes, extreme close ups) some of the worst editing i've ever seen.
terrible wooden acting and paper thin characters just used to advance to the next shitty action scene.
Everybody was a clone, cop out ending.

normally i don't mind these b-movie action films but this was a 2/10 experience
Resident Evil: afterlife might be one the worst films I have ever watched.

the entire film goes nowhere it is almost pointless.
it looks like it was filmed with 1990's graphics even though it is from 2010

After RE1 and RE2 Apocalypse the series was deplorable. Movies that were so bad they should have never been released theatrically.
the sad thing is a p.o.s film like resident evil afterlife made 300 million against a 60 million budget.

I was never a gamer but I played the hell out of RE. The movie was never going to do it justice, but the first one was watchable. I stopped watching after the desert one. I do l8ke Mila.

I enjoyed all the resident evil movies but the last two were so fucking bad.Literally don't even really remember what happened and I remember all the other movies well.

Only thing I remember is this dude being locked ina room and dodging all these different laser beams. It goes low and he jumps it, it goes high and he ducks, etc. Then it just sends a huge grid that goes throughout the entire room and hits everything. I just thought "Why the fuck wouldnt they just do that first?"

Also, the movie sucked.
