Just watched the first Resident Evil

Bro, you had to own a Playstation 1 to understand.
It's unfathomable how much of a huge leap in technology gamers went through in gaming evolution.
We went from rinky dinky cartridges that you had to blow air in to get the game to play to CD-ROMS.
CD-ROMS bro!!! Do you understand!?!?!?
It's the equivalent of man inventing fire. It was the next step in evolution.
Resident Evil was among the first batch of games released within the first year of the Playstation.
It was unprecedented at the time because there was nothing else quite like it.
It was the first legit horror game that didn't rely on cheap scares for home consoles.
Oh I did. That's one of the reasons I liked Resident Evil: Apocalypse so much as a kid, because I played Resident Evil 2 and 3.

I don't remember the big jump in technology as well, although my brother and dad used to let me play Sonic 1, 2, and 3 & Knuckles on the Mega Drive.

I wish I was able to get through Silent Hill as a kid though, but that was way too much for 6 year old me.

The soundtrack was good though

Slipknot will always have a place in my heart
Can I get an amen?
I miss being an edgy little kid thinking My Plague on the Resident Evil soundtrack was the coolest thing ever.

I cannot begin to explain the excitement i had for this movie. I had absolutely loved the games and i knew this couldnt disappoint.

I was so god damn wrong.

I left PISSED. Cheesy. Didnt follow the games. Cheesy. Dumb ass AI villain. Cheesy! I remember a stupid dumb ass close up face shot of Mila, then a short guitar solo plays... What in the fuck?!

I NEVER even bothered with the sequels. No one cared enough the first time, they sure as shit wont improve it with sequels.

A reboot is a MUST.
Apparently it's James Wan rebooting it so that seems to hint an actual horror film instead of action, although I do hope it's a bit of a mix with more horror than action.

And yet this is the second best video game movie ever made, sandwitched between Silent Hill and Mortal Kombat.

Boggles the mind.

Yeah there's not a lot to choose from. Movies based on games are as bad as games based on movies.

Lots of corporate synergy, but usually nobody seems to care if the product sucks.

@shadow_priest_x loves, stands by, & even recently marathoned this awful shitshow of a movie franchise.

It's the reason why, even though he is my mayberry sher-homey, I will never quite look at him the same way, or let him operate heavy machinery, or leave him alone around children.

Well at least he watches the movies he talks about and doesn't just jump on the casual bandwagon

"Cheesy" seems to be your stock complaint for all video game movies.

Mortal Kombat . . . cheesy! Resident Evil . . . cheesy!

Just can't handle the cheese!

I don't know how they fucked up such a simple concept.

Make a movie, with the girl fighting through a city of zombies.

Well if we're really staying faithful the first movie should've been fighting through a creepy ass mansion.

The CD-ROM was great and definitely a huge leap forward, but goddamn was there a trade-off: Loading times.

It was especially bad during the PSX era.

I can't tell you how many times I would scream at the TV "Would you just let me play the fucking game?!" as the loading bar slowly crawled to 100%.

I dont really think that about GOT vs LOTR

I was just mocking people who I have seen say those things

It does seem like a natural pairing. What's even more interesting is how people often pit GoT and Vikings against each other.

Holy shit.
No characterization, barely any character names. Absurd action sequences with CGI that doesn't hold up well.

But even though her tits are fake and she's not into men, I love that Michelle Rodriguez.
CGI fake? I thought hers were barely there naturals.

Is the video game any good? Never tried any.

why is it so hard to make a video game movie that isn't complete dog shit?

i binged this series recently too! It's terrible haha but the first to me, is the best "movie". the rest are weird set pieces where people who have a vague idea about video games made a movie about a video game and trying to mimic what they think all of that is. the 2nd aint bad, the 3rd loses steam and watching 4-6 is the same as having a white noise machine on.

He's not wrong though. You can't tell me the Kano v Sonya Blade fight scene in Mortal Kombat wasn't cheesy as fuck.
