Anyone have any expierence with the boxing CD? I just bought the set and I'm ready to get started.

yup...and this advice goes for the MT CD too...

...when using them for the heavy bag workout, the punch technique is very important; especially when chaining combos to kick effectively, front or rear leg, after the punch combo...

DO NOT PUSH THE BAG! A lot of people think that going with a full follow-through on the punch creates power (which it does in a fight situation), but on the heavy bag, all it does is swing the fucker around and make it harder to kick (i.e. after a "4", if you push too much after the first right straight, you seem to move forward to land the left hook, which makes the last right straight in close range, which punching hard will swing the bag waaaaay out, and then the left/front kick is hard to throw, even if you do a switch kick)...

...instead make the punches hard but 'snappy' - focus on bringing the glove back to guard/starting position after the punch...this will also help with the hip/shoulder rotation to throw the next shot from the opposite side

[side note: I like to mix up the punches/kick combos on the MT CD by throwing a kick on the SAME side after every 2-3 combos (i.e. 1-front kick, 2-rear kick, etc) ; makes you return to guard faster and thus is more difficult to do well] :icon_chee

^...thanks for the advice. These are the best CD's I've ever bought. Unbeilvable workouts. The best part is during the rest periods...Bas acts as if he's your trainer.

I travel quite a bit for work so these are perfect for my IPOD and room just BUY THE SET!

wicked cd's my back aches for ages after doing them. havent trained in a while and i'm going to die doing them.

I know lots of people have posted to this but I want to chime in because they are so awesome. I use them all the time and after letting a few people that I train mma with use them, the whole place is using them. Since I started them, I lost 25lbs when I didn't think I needed to loose any. My sparring shape is better than anyone at my club and they all are using the cd's now. I mostly use them on the heavy bag. Actually had so buy a new one because I destroyed the old one. Bas Rules!!!

Bas Rutten GnP workout using the Thai Boxing CD

Straddle the heavybag.
The numbers are the same, but instread of knees, I drop elbows. For instance, left knee right straight becomes left elbow (rear back up), right straight. Liver shot is a straight to the body. Uppercut: pitch forward and spread your hands out as if you got bucked. Rules still apply for dropping elbows w/ opposite arm from the last number called.

You know that's not such a bad idea, may have to give this a go.

Here is another variation of the Bas workout I've done for MMA:

Bas Rutten Thai Boxing 3 minute rounds w/ new cardio stuff

Rd 1: Dumbell Snatches (35lbs x 20 each arm) Dynamic Rows <Underhand Grip> (115 lbs x 20) Pushups (20)
Rd 2: Bas's Instructions
Rd 3: Repeat of round 1
Rd 4: Bas's Instructions
Rd 5 Repeat of round 1
Rd 6 Bas's Instructions
Rd 7: Repeat of round 1

Its been a while since I've felt drunk during a workout. My legs were shaking and I was definitely in endorphin land on the last two rounds. This was a killer cardio workout, and I feel it was diverse enough to simulate grappling/ MMA.

Funny because I do the same thing except when he calls for an uppercut I go from the mount to knee on belly and throw a straight punch then return to the mount. Maybe I'll mix it up with your buck simulation.

I had a friend that thought of this a couple months ago, and now he's got others doing a similar routine.
That's the great thing about the cds; the workout can be as difficult as you want it to be.

Personally, I just bought the discs about a month ago.
As someone else mentioned in this thread, when using the Thai Boxing CD I'll sometimes substitute knees and kicks with elbows.
I also often using the Boxing CD to shadowbox; emphasizing foot-work, slipping

I train Muay Thai now, I still use the Bas cds and love them...I got them before I started training and still use them they are truly great and totally worth the $..PROPS TO BAS!!

i got the bas cds and big dvds of combat from my trainer. the cds are an awesome workout, and the dvds are nuts! he shows you how to do SO MANY submissions and the escapes for all of them.

so, are the cd's just like instructions, like hes calling out combos or something?
