JURASSIC WORLD v.2 (Dragonlord's Review)

Going to see tomorrow.

Huge Jurassic Park and dinosaur fan in general, so my opinion will be biased.

This isn't a horror movie though. It's an adventure movie with mass appeal. That's why I was agreeing with the post. It had very horror movie like deaths for this kind of film. Samuel L and Muldon died in the first movie but you didn't really see either. You fully see the D-Rex eat the one security guard.

I'm just saying what people "deserve" doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what you see in a film.

You were surprised by the amount of gore or brutality in the film. I understand that. Just saying the 'deserves' doesn't really have anything to do with it. Hell, sometimes filmmakers will kill off seemingly innocent characters specifically for this reason (shock value).

I suspect that's what happened here. The thing is, it should never REALLY shock you. Like, you almost sound genuinely surprised.

No offense intended, of course.

A plus I got from this movie was Bryce Dallas Howard. I was way too harsh on her prior to seeing this. During the movie, I was very much won over by her. She's hot.

The end felt like godzilla. Dino vs Dino(s)

I maintain that the Spino would have kicked it's ass. But where the hell was it? The whole time they were talking about wanting "bigger, scarier, cooler".... HELLO! The Spino checks off all of those things and already exists without having to gene splice.

Also, I swear to God, I called the ending EXACTLY as it played out, months ago.

Pretty much my exact words:

The Raptors and T-Rex will probably team up and push the I-Rex back towards the water's edge where the Maso will pop out and be the one to finally kill it.

Also, way to make the T-Rex look weak again. That's two in a row now. I miss the days of JP 1 and even Lost World, where the T-Rex was made to look like a major badass.

And way to totally make the Rators NOT scary. They were terrifying in the first film, but here, they weren't threatening at all.

Overall, Jurassic World sucked. 3/10. (Still better than AoU)

JW is proof of Speilberg's greatness. No one can make 'em like him.

Just saw this last night. Jurassic Park is in my top 5 favorite movies and I watch it all the time so I was excited for this movie to make up for the Lost World and JP3. Unfortunately, compared to what a lot of reviews have said so far, I was kind of disappointed. The older kid was too much of a dick to even be realistic, the military storyline was unnecessary, and the CGI in parts looked like a better SyFy movie (particularly the T Rex at the end). I thought the Indominus was pretty cool, but I didn't really like most of the characters and it just felt pretty similar to most other summer movies, kind of predictable. I lean more towards a 6/10 than a 7/10. JP>LW>JW=JP3 for me.

I wanted every single human character too fucking die a brutal death. They were all so shit.

The older brother. The young kid. The aunt. Chris platt didn't work in this one for me either like he did in guardians.

Like 1.5 hours of zzzzz humans then predictable dino battles.

Severly dissapointed. 5/10

JURASSIC WORLD Opens to Record $204.6 Million U.S. Debut

Jurassic-World-Gyrosphere-Dragonlord.jpg

Obliterating all expectations, Universal's Jurassic World roared to a record $204.6 million debut in North America and $511.8 million globally, rescuing the action-adventure franchise from the brink of extinction 22 years after Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park first hit theaters.

The $150 million tentpole, bestowed with an A CinemaScore, proves that dinosaurs are every bit as potent as superheroes: Jurassic World's estimated weekend bests the $191.3 million launch of sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron last month to bite off the No. 2 domestic opening of all time, almost matching the $207.4 million launch of The Avengers in May 2012.

Some rival studios even have Jurassic World beating the first Avengers and earning north of $207.8 million, but Universal is being cautious in projecting Sunday traffic because of Sunday night's NBA championship game. Final weekend numbers will be released Monday morning.

Heading into the weekend, tracking suggested Jurassic World would open to an impressive $125 million-plus domestically, but it quickly transformed into a T. Rex on steroids, thanks to older moviegoers seduced by the nostalgia factor and a massive turnout among younger moviegoers who grew up watching the first three movies on television and going to Universal theme parks.

I liked it. It was fun with the third act being all kinds of awesome. Now I want to ride into battle with a pack of Raptors.

8/10

The introduction to the human characters was horrible. Wasn't till everything hit the fan that their acting showed why they got the parts.

The assistants death scene was terrifying! Reminded me of certain real life scenes from the documentary Blackfish.

Would of been a great modern day sequel to the original. Yet lacked the human connection that the original established early into the film.

Jesus Christ....

as soon as i saw the 2 white kids, i instantly knew that these annoying bastards will be immune to death, i knew it and it was true.

why cant they introduce some fake main characters and then scrap them mid movie, be original yo.

How is that original? Deep blue sea did that with Samuel l Jackson. Godzilla did that with the breaking bad dude. Avp2 straight up murdered the dumb love interest girl. Executive decision murdered Steven seagal in the first 20 minutes.

It's been done, its not original.

I just got back from it. This movie was dope. I was thoroughly intrigued by the idea of using dinosaurs as weapons. If it was even feasibly possible. Or would their natural instinct be just to kill your ass. I had a great time.
Nerdy guy with glasses who got shut down by that weird looking girl was hilarious. He got owned so hard haha. The moment amidst imminent danger, he finally decides to make a move on her, he gets shut down hard. Poor guy. But that's why this movie teaches us the lesson that we should always be chasing various poon. You can't get hung up on just one chick for anything more than a brief amount of time. You gotta be putting in work elsewhere.

Saw it in 3D, really good stuff. I was very pleasantly surprised because I was expecting a mindless CGI shitshow, and instead they actually bothered trying to give some story to it. The lead characters & performances were good - Chris Pratt exudes likability, & then there's Dat Bryce - she keeps getting hotter as the movie goes on. And even my primal urges aside, she does a really good job with the different facets of her character and its progression.

It's well-cast overall, Vincent D'n'ofri'o was a welcome surprise, and also that smartass guy from That Girl show, or whatever it's called, the comedy show starring the chick who looks like that Perry chick, only with less tit.

Okay this review is kinda going off the rails. Point is, it's a good movie. See it.

The effects are on point, on the higher end of CGI than I've seen out of Hollywood the last bunch of years. And there are a lot of dinosaurs, none of this Godzilla shit where you only see the goods for like 4 seconds.

(spoiler)

They also do a smart thing, pulling a T2 here, and making the scariest dinosaurs from the first movie, the good guys in this movie. Really enjoyed that dynamic, and a few other surprises along the way kept me entertained as well.

Doesn't quite nail the scariness the first one had, and for that reason, the Spieljew original will always be the true king of the prehistoric jungle. But the fun is all there, and it is a surprisingly enjoyable ride. 8/10

2 somewhat minor complaints:

1. the kids kinda sucked overall, maybe the fault of the writing of their particular storyline, moreso than them.

2. (spoiler) when Bryce uses a flare to lure the T-Rex into the fight, Pratt should have seen her do that, and then said "... Clever girl." That would have been fkn epic.

I liked it a lot, the end was so perfect it made up for maybe a bit of a clunky first act. Definitely not as tense as the original, but it aimed for something different and succeeded as an action/adventure movie where the previous sequels failed. It was more about the dinosaurs than the humans for sure, but the dinosaurs delivered and the people didn't detract too much. Gave it an 8, think anybody who watches it is likely to have a good time.
