Judge Merchan is one of the best judges, and I believe that you will find he will continue to call balls and strikes perfectly after the absolutely bullshit Scrotus ruling on admissibility of evidence. I am a little disappointed by the delay in proceedings, but I trust that he has very solid reasoning for allowing counsel time to organize their arguments.
As for appointing a Special Counsel.... it's to give the defense a chance at an unbiased assessment, and to give the DOJ an arms length from potential proceedings.

The use of special counsel's has been in place since 1979, and have ALWAYS been held to be lawful... until C. Thomas advised Canon to take the offramp. It has been an accepted practice right up until Trump wanted to weasel out of a case of which he is 100% guilty.
Be that as it may.... Canon and Thomas done fucked up. Canon very easily could have slow roasted this thing until well after the election.... but not now. Now the DOJ has the option to refile and get a real judge on the case, and it actually COULD be wrapped up prior to the election. It's a simple open and shut case, the ONLY thing holiding it up was a corrupt judge.
You can take this as a W... and you are welcome to it, because this was a great outcome for the case.
