Jones vs DC 3 soon?

That's not how Stipe's been talking; when he's been asked by people on his Twitch stream how the eye is doing he always gives an encouraging report. But I guess it's possible that the most recent checkup by the eye doc wasn't as rosy as expected? Anyway, he'll be at the Conor-Cowboy fight; somebody will surely collar him there and ask for an update.

EDIT
This from yesterday —
(Q) stipe are you still injured?
(Stipe) Nah, I'm starting to get back into the swing of things. Slowly but surely.

Understand that he couldn't train like he usually does for a long while. And he shouldn't hurry coming back from something like a retinal tear, when it could mean permanent damage that not only would end his MMA career but probably his firefighting career as well. He certainly isn't going to be able to fall back on an announcing career like Bisping has...

I don't really want to see anymore of these DC rematches.. How about if Stipe is out DC can fight Francis for the vacant title?

Rogan let it slip during his latest fight companion that Stipe "may have to retire since he wasn't healing from his injuries." Stipe's eye is the only injury I'm aware of but it's obviously a big deal. I'm guessing Rogan got the info from D.C. &/or Dana.

So if Stipe can't come back this summer, what does that mean for the HW title & DC?

Imo, I think we may end up with Jones/DC 3(vacant or interim) instead of Stipe/DC 3, IF Jones beats Reyes. Ngannou/Rozenstruik winner can fight for the belt later in the year, even if it's vacant via DC or Jones relinquishing it.

Thoughts?

First off, DC derailed the LHW division for 5 years, at least after Bader and Davis left he wasn't derailing much. But there's too many good fighters for him to cut the line. This matchup has just stubbornly refused to die since mid 2014 despite both fights being rather ordinary Jones wins where DC took a round early then gassed. Then if there's a third and DC wins y'all will want a fourth, if it's a close decision y'all will want a fourth.

No one should get a third crack at a opponent they didn't beat either of the first two times unless there's some controversial robbery decision there(Romero v Whitakker would be an exception for example). That's the norm in the UFC and the UFC has shown they don't really bend that rule even if the loser goes on a crazy tear(Joe B with MM before MM trade). There isn't any reason to do this a third time. DC's also older than in either of the first two fights, it's not like he has a better chance, his best chance was the first time. It's a waste of their time and a waste of the fans time.

That being said seems like DC's only coming back for Stipe, doesn't make sense for Jones or DC. It would be crazy if he fought for a vacant HW belt, three championships he didn't win lineally. Must be a sort of record. Anyhow that makes no sense cause he'd clearly vacate and retire after and then they'd have another 2 guys fight for the belt, who'd be a paper champ? Only fight for DC that makes sense is Stipe cause win or lose Stipe will just fight someone for the belt after.

Please no 3rd fight. What's going to change?

There's some lhws Jones can fight, and even some intriguing HWs if that's Jones path. Let's see that!

Though if DC manages to get a hw strap out of this, you'll definitely see a third fight. Unfortunately.

God I hope not, my heart can't take DC losing to Jones again. It haunts me.
Jones passed 100% of PED tests without facing DC and failed 100% with facing DC. The only saving grace for a 'hematch' is that DC is way more dominant at HW. He was so dominate over Stipe and had it not been for his steel Croatian jaw, he would have been finished again. Prior to Stipe landing those body shots, it was as good as I've seen DC look. I want Jones to fight DC sober, and if he can't, fight Ngannou.

And as much as I love Stiopic the fighter, I like him more as a family man and will not be disappointed if that was his last fight. Homie has taken some HELLACIOIS beatings in his careers and makes Brendan Schaub sound like Richard Dawkins. Going out on top has only really happened three times in this sport: Phillip 'the undefeated GOAT' Miller, GSP and Hershel Walker. Stipe is clearly heading towards Chuck-ville unless he stops soon.

Fake news, Stipe has 20/20 vision, as evidenced by his recent Call of Duty twitch streams.

Stipe made DC shit out his own spleen

jon made it clear he not moving up. he was all tough talk after beating gus and smith at post fight presser than signs to fight more middleweights.

Really ? those eye pokes damaged him that bad I was sure he is just taking his sweet time, enjoying life as champ again and saying screw you to DC for making him wait with his own Brock plans.

If Bisping was able to fight in his condition then why not Stipe who knows..

just cause bisping did something doesnt make it the best thing to do. stipe is also a firefighter so he might have to retire from that as well.

Emphatic NO! Seeing crying the way he did was heartbreaking enough the first time I saw it. Don't wanna see it again. Expedite rumble's return instead. Make them fight at a catchweight or even at hw.
Rumble vs DC or Rumble vs Jones?
I have little interest in seeing Rumble wrestle fucked and RNC'd by DC. Would be interested in seeing Jones take on Rumble.

DC is just too old at this point too. Imo he was at his best in Strikeforce.

If Stipe has to retire than DC should be forced to retire too because fuck the eye poking cheat.

Really hoping this is stipe playing EXTRA, DIRTY hardball with the ufc and DC.

he’s felt so fucked over for so long on so many issues, he’s got to feel vindicated as fuck after finished DC while being eyepoked again

if he truly has to retire due to vision problems, that would be a fucking horrific look for the ufc and DC. ‘Most successful heavyweight champ of all time forced to retired due to repeated eyepokes over two fights’

can you fucking imagine?
‘Ex heavyweight champ, partially blinded and forced into retirement, wonders why the ufc never did anything to address the issue of eyepokes, which has long plagued the sport of mma’

Jones vs rumble. The one that got away.
I would love to see that one but I doubt Jones agrees to it at HW and there is no way Rumble makes 205 lbs.

It would also be weird to have a HW fight for the title with 2 guys (Jon & Rumble) with Zero fights at HW in the UFC.

I think if the UFC has to fill a vacant HW title due to a Stipe retirement then a HW grand prix would be called for. For me if DC is true to his word that it is Stipe or nothing then leave him out.

I realize that JDS vs Blaydes and Francis vs Rosenstruik are booked already. I hypothetically we scrapped that I would book a Grand Prix Tournament like this.

The Top 8 in the UFC:
Francis Ngannou
Curtis Blaydes
Junior Dos Santos
Jairzinho Rozenstruik
Derrick Lewis
Alexander Volkov
Alistair Overeem
Walt Harris

I would put one Bracket as:
JDS vs Volkov
Francis vs Reem
Second Bracket
Blaydes vs Lewis
Rozenstruik vs Harris
