Someone pointed out it a couple days ago I think but there's this weird trend of how ssome Jackson Wink fighters just don't have any power punches in their arsenal.

Whether it be Holly Holm, Jones, Condit etc...

But yet when Jones is on the ground he hits insanely hard.

Reyes has a good reach, better boxing, good tdd and more power. He'll find the chin of post usada Jones.

Reyes has a 76” reach vs Jones’ 84” reach. Pretty sure Smith’s reach is the same as Reyes.

Jones is going to destroy that elongated torso target, take Reyes down and do damage. While Jones should finish this fight - it’s the type that he’ll let go five rounds. Jones only seems to punish/finish guys who talk trash and piss him off. Reyes isn’t that type of guy.

Jones doesn’t sit down on his punches to get the power - he’s a volume striker, prioritizing distance and defense. Can’t argue with approach though, hasn’t failed him yet.

Jones walks around at 235. His brothers are 300lb NFL'ers. He really should and will fight HW. Reyes is good but just too small. Even Gustaffson or Cormier would beat him. That might be a good fight for Gus to take if he comes back.

Jones got the nickname "Bones" because he's always been so skinny that he stuck out compared to his older brother Arthur 6'3 300lbs and younger brother Chandler 6'5 255lbs. Jon bulking up to walk around at 235 says a lot.

Seems like just cause of a style choice more than anything. Jones likes to stay light on his feet and mobile, really hard to generate power on punches without planting your weight and sitting down on it. Jones just dosen't seem to throw like that often as he seems to like the war of attrition approach when fighting at striking range so focuses on agility to just make repeated contact. It's also why Jon isn't easy to get a bead on as he's rarely planted. I'm sure if he wanted to get reckless though and sit down on some punches using speed and his incredible length for leverage that he could probably crack some fools.

He didn't murder Osp or Anthony Smith or Thiago Santos. He hasn't been as dominant against taller fighters.
