Thats where the money is

He's cleared out the whole division & he'll never lose at LHW. No matter what anyone says, Jones beat Gus.

It was a great fight but it was also a classic case of no1 giving fighter X a chance in hell, & then overreacting the whole hog the other way when he held his own. It swung on round 4, because Gus was on the brink of going 3 rounds to 1 up but Jones very nearly finished him halfway through that round

Jones just has a huge size advantage. Even when guys like Belfort/ Sonnen were drugged up, he still dealt with them easily.

Rumble looked far more sensational than I though he ever could VS Davis, but Jones would beat him easily - just like he did Evans/Rampage, etc. Jones is on a hiding to nothing because Rumble fought as WW & MW for goodness sakes

The whole last year with DC has raised the interest level with him & HW would be a massive moneymaker. HW is where you make money from casual fans & attract new viewers in, & the UFC's HW division is a shambles. Jones could transform that on him own & would already beat the majority of the division without question

Imagine him fighting JDS/Cormier again/Cain/Lesnar. Awesome PPV numbers. Guys like Struve & Browne wouldn't beat him but it would still make far more interesting viewing than what we're likely to see now.

There's really no blockbuster fights on the horizon. I love Diaz but he'll lose handily to Anderson & where do we go from there anyway?

Chuck and Tito made a ton of money at LHW and nobody firced them to move up. Jones is fine at his weight class.

there is still Gus - the only guy who came very close to beating Jones

he's scared of cain and won't move

stop with the size advantage nonsense already. he makes 205 easily. it's a WEIGHT CLASS.

he has to at min fight winner of gus/aj.

But was the HW division as in dire need of stars back then?

Did they always look miles bigger than their opponents?

Did they clear out the division to this extent?

Him moving up would rejuvenate LHW as well at HW.

please, can the haters take a break for a millisecond? he just beat cain's training partner who moved down from hw and was supposed to walk through jones. he couldn't. he's scared of dc, scared of gus, scared, scared.

Why? Who cares?

He's already beaten Gus & he would unquestionably beat AJ & please lets not pretend any different

it rejuvenates a division to have the best guy leave it and hover above? it diminishes the division when that happens.

gus/rumble is big money

The money would be in a superfight with Cain. But for that to happen, Cain would need to actually defend his title, which he hasn't down for nearly a year and a half.

Like it was mentioned before, it's a weight class not a height class.

No-one's asking Gus to move up because of his height.

It shouldn't be down to Jones to move up just because Heavyweight has a lack of stars, plus think how weak the LHW division would be without Jones.

Competition rejuvenates a division. Its not like Jones beating HW's would make the LHW's who couldn't beat him look silly now is it?

How long are people realistically gunna tune in to watch a skilled 227lb Jones beat up guys who have to bulk to get to 205?

HW is where the money is- that's a fact of fighting. This is the same reason Evander Holyfield moved up to HW.

1. How many guys bulk up to get to 205? Please name and shame.
2. You're completely right, everyone knows Matt Mitrione is making more than Lyoto Machida on a regular basis.

Boxing's different to MMA.

so now dc, gus, glover, aj, davis are guys who bulk up to get to 205?

jones easily makes his weight class.

chuck liddell fought at lhw. silva at mw. gsp at ww. the money is where the stars are. floyd says hi too.

Jones was apparently weighing around 218 three weeks prior to this fight, which tells me that he clearly doesn't have a terribly difficult time with the weight cut. Yes, a mere glance at his siblings suggests that he could probably beef up to heavyweight if necessary but he's still got two intriguing challenges left at 205. Besides, let's see Cain make it through a training camp unscathed before we begin clamoring for a super fight, because, let's be honest, when people clamor for Jones to make the jump in weight, that's the fight they're talking about. Outside maybe JDS and Werdum if he beats Cain, there are no actual money match ups for him at heavyweight and to be honest, the JDS who showed up against Stipe would get waxed by Jones.

Also, the money is not at heavyweight. Light heavyweight has always been the UFC's marquee division.

Jon is not a true HW he walks around normally at 225, 230 after holiday meals. He would be one of the lighter HW's in the division. He's what you call a ectomorph in body structure tall, long, & lean, very hard to put on mass.

After fighting the winner of Rumble/Gus there nobody left for Jones. Then it's time to move.

Didn't say it was Jones' responsibility to help HW's star power. That's why I said he should be paid

& HW having a lack of stars is 10x worse than LHW lacking stars

Seems like a bunch of people on here don't wanna risk seeing Jones lose. Bizarre

Boxing's different to MMA.

What a ridiculous statement. Lets compare an undercard HW to a headlining MW

Is Weidman making more than Cain?......Didn't think so
