Rumored Jones - Gane did 1 million PPV-buys

Is Jones UFC’s biggest draw outside of Conor?

Don't care for Ali but I feel its very plausible that 285 did between 800K to 1M. In fact I'd be more shocked if it did 500K over 1.5M.

Anyone who says they know PPV buys is full of shit. It's just estimations based on how many people were Googling UFC and Jon Jones and Cyryl Gane in the week leading up to the fight.

Ali probably knows more than most people, though.

Don't see why people are having a hard time believing honest Ali?

That can’t possibly be how they estimate PPV’s.

If Ali's right & we assume very few of the PPV buyers were buying for any fight other than the ME, that's $80m

'member when people ridiculed Jones asking for Deontay money (~$30m), or ridiculing his coach when he said Jones v Ngannou was a $50m fight?

I 'member. Fans & unpaid defenders of corporations disgust me

Conor about to break three million buys with his return fight.

I believe it. Hype is real. There was lots of excitement for this fight and I think UFC is bigger than it was when he rematched DC.

I call bullshit.

Otherwise, please - show us the proof.

The UFC has constantly bullshitted about how successful a PPV is, to make it seem like they were on top of things and make it seem like they are more popular then they really are.

You think a million people paid to see a flabby Jones come back after 3 years and fight Gane ?

I call BS

It FELT big. My whole timeline was people
Talking about it. Turned me on.

I love seeing people
Talk about ufc on big fight nights,
Makes the sport Feel so damn big baby

anywho! 1 million is great

How can anyone know?
Everybody is speculating about something nobody knows.
Ali Abdelaziz doesn’t know either. evev if Dana said that to him. You can’t trust anything Dana says.

how can fighters know for sure what the ppv numbers are?
How do they know that the company is not lying to them?
Let’s say a ppv sells a million. But they tell the fighter that the ppv did 400k.
Umm, the fighters know. They sign a legal contract and part of the championship clause is they get PPV share.

The UFC HAS TO disclose the PPV numbers to them. If the UFC is lying, then that is a severe lawsuit in the making.

The accounts have to add up. they need to submit their accounts for audit and shit. They don't have to reveal it to the public, but that doesn't mean that they can do whatever they want in terms of legality.

Lots of casuals were aware of Jones' return
Hes one of the faces of the UFC, very believable

Who the fuck is buying these ppvs? It's not any of us, and we actually like the sport enough to post on a forum like a bunch of nerds
Like besides mid range and above bars, rich affliction wearing dad's going through mid life crisis's with a shitty spoiled brat children, or completely financially irresponsible retards, who the shit can afford this? Especially when you can see it for free so easily?
I don't believe it. Not at all.
I bought it...

I spent more on steaks. It is literally just 80 bucks.

Curious about the people who voted "no" in the poll. Who exactly do they think is a bigger draw than Jones?

the fighters don’t get to see the audit. i don’t think the audit gets to see the details of the contract. The audit doesn’t know what’s in the contract. They just see a number that is paid to the fighter. They have to check what goes in and out. They don’t check if contracts are being respected. They don’t get to see the contracts.
the audit doesn’t reveal official ppv numbers.
I’m just wandering how ppv numbers are conveyed to fighters.
Conor once just showed a paper from the UFC.
How does he check if the numbers are official and correct?
enployees and contractors get fooled all the times. I’m wondering what the control tool is for a fighter.
maybe you are right. I’m just wondering. I would have wanted to know as a fighter.

There was a bit of a buzz for the fight even though they didn't promote it heavily.

Honestly, after seeing the buzz at the weigh ins and media obligations and the view numbers for them, I wouldn't doubt it. Last time Jones was gone for awhile it generated 700k. This time he returned to make history as a HW, I'm sure that generated interest amongst casuals, hardcore's, and even new fans. Everyone loves to witness history, it's a talking point.

That said, Daner, Ali, and Jones are all full of shit. So who really knows?

AFAIK the numbers trickle in with a massive delay, so impossible to know now. The fucktard is bullshitting as always.

Everything else was record setting for his return and the buzz was off the charts (still is on here even with all these Jon threads). Like literally every single metric (searches, social media, live gate etc). I know Jones isn’t the biggest draw traditionally but factoring everything in it wouldn’t shock me if it hit 1 million. It was quite clear that this was his biggest stage to date.
