Rumored Jones - Gane did 1 million PPV-buys

Is Jones UFC’s biggest draw outside of Conor?

I wouldn't trust Ali Abdelaziz as a source.

1 million is possible, but i doubt it. I don't think it was bigger than Jones DC 2, but i could be wrong

Anecdotal but I noticed a lot more hype for this among my coworkers than usual. People who don't normally talk about fights were mentioning this one in passing.

This is not what the UFC wants of course. They have demonstrated quite clearly that they want less PPV buys.

Yeah this this fight was pretty huge and i wouldn't be surprised if it did crack 1 million

Per Ali Abdelaziz

this is why the UFC had to assure that Jon won....better fan base and more money....Gange knew what was up and was "taken care of " money wise for little work and took little "damage"....and was assured another shot down the line...the initiated knows how this game is played....and guess what Jon is still gonna fight Francis in the first quarter of 2024....guaranteed

I'm curious how it works in the bar where we watched it. They have 26 TVs (they advertise that number, I didn't count them) and all but 1 were on the event. They all have their own tuner box too. I watched the manager go around with the remote and change each TV to the fight.
So does each TV have it's own account since it has it's own box and so they had 25 buys from this one bar? Or is there one account and only one charge for the event?

So with PPV Points Jones should make $15-20 Million while Ngannou was at home making nothing...

don't you worry, from my sources on sherdog, i gather that $50mil pipe dream fight with one of the big 3 in boxing is right around the corner! didn't you hear EVERYBODY is clamouring to sign international superstar Big Frank Ngannou!

I don't think it's that it was a bigger fight

But it's like the only fight that's felt big for a long time.

If there's any card you buy it'd probably be that one
Yeah true, the fight did felt big. I think volk Islam felt almost as big, but before that, yes it felt like a very long time

Anyone who says they know PPV buys is full of shit. It's just estimations based on how many people were Googling UFC and Jon Jones and Cyryl Gane in the week leading up to the fight.

My guess is that it did anywhere from 800k - 1m ppv.

Jones vs Cormier was 800k.

His comeback after 3 years against Gane wont do worse.

PPV numbers meaning nothing.

The real metric for how well a card did is whether the streams crash. Lots of my go to streams crashed right before the Main Event for me. I had to madly race about to find one that worked. I was successful. But that’s the hardest time I’ve had watching a UFC card.

This confirms that Jones is still a needle mover. No pun intended.
