Jones ain't gonna fight Aspinall

The interim heavyweight title holder is unqualified to unify the titles.... Riiiiiiiiight. The man holding one of the belts is unqualified to unify them.

Do you Jones dick riders even hear yourselves? Lol
you're an idiot. go watch jake paul

i think jon wants to beat that hw defense record before vacating

No way he sticks around that long
Well, the record is 3. He's already got 1. I believe he wants it and was/is hoping he can sort of weasel his way to it with lay ups like Perreira and maybe Lewis or someone beatable with no ground game. This is why I think this Aspinall situation is so annoying to him and why he's now trying to bring the BMF belt into it.

From all the stories, Jon is a stats mark. To him, all this p4p and title defense crap really matters and I don't think he'd go to HW without craving to cement himself - at least on paper - as the best ever. If it turns into a legacy ruining dead end with guaranteed losses, I'm sure he'll bail, but I do think he wants that record and this HW division is ripe for him to do just that. Only problem is this Aspinall guy.

This fight simply isn't going to happen. We have more chance of seeing McGregor vs Chandler.

To be fair I do think he's correct that Poatan would be a more exciting fight, he'd make more money and people would remember it more. Jon's a lot of things but he's not stupid.

It's still ducking though. He should just give up the HW belt and fight Poatan at LHW, then everyone's happy(ish)

Bones will go back to 205 and Fight Alex on July Card. Assuming he's not suspended. He's not fighting Tom but ia fighting Pereria if he's able. He wants to retire champ of division he ruled an is GOAT of.

It's a no lose for Poatan he loses its the GOAT n he just fights Ank for open belt after. He wins his legend grows exponentially

Jon did price himself out to escape Ngannou but now he’s gone even beyond that tactic and has said “I don’t want Aspinall I want Periera. If they don’t want to give that to me then I retire”. He’s not even pretending anymore because he knows his bluff has been called.

UFC knows they scammed us once pitting a wrestler of JBJ’s caliber against Gane but they can’t pull that a second time against Pereira. Nor do they want to keep The interim HW champ on ice any longer. There’s money to be made and having a dumb matchup where a popular fighter like Pereira loses predictably is just a stupid idea for everybody not named Capt Legacy.

Hopefully Jones retires and the belt is freed up because the game playing is so tedious.

Not really. One of the reasons you know Dana White is stupid is that he'd rather lose money than pay fighters what they're worth. Jones vs. Ngannou at the time would have pulled in at least 500K more PPV sales than a typical PPV, and if Dana didn't desperately want to keep 80% of that free money he could easily have paid Jones.

DW is greedy but he’s not stupid (although I agree letting Francis go was a mistake).
And JBJ is fight smart, not greedy.
That’s why he never asked for FU money to fight Gane or Stipe. Those 2 fights seemed quite affordable.

Jones ain't gonna beat shogun
Jones ain't gonna rematch Gus
Jones ain't gonna wrestle with DC
Jones ain't ever fighting again
Jones ain't ever moving to HW
Jones ain't ever fighting aspinall

Do you guys ever get tired of this? It's been 15+ years

Are there any other champs who demand "f u money" to defend their belt against the rightful contender? Shouldn't he already be on a very good contract, especially as a champ?

It's clearly a duck to let's say defend against Pereira or Stipe for 5-10m but demand 30m to fight Ngannou or Aspinall.

Maybe Merab will call out Dominic Cruz and fight him for free, and demand 20m to fight Umar.

Lol.
Already making excuses.
Jones just said once again to the world...pay me Jake Paul/ Mayweather money.
Funny that UFC can lowball a fighter yet it's the fighters fault for not fighting.
Who do you think you are kidding here exactly?

Why did Jon demand $30 million to fight Francis but come back and fight Gane for a fraction of that?

Why is he demanding "fuck you money that would make a loss sting less" to fight Aspinall but he took his normal rate to fight Stipe and is not demanding life changing money to fight Pereira?

If it's the UFC lowballing him why is Jon accepting lowball offers to fight some guys but not others?

I mean, it's you guys that keep saying Aspinall is unproven and unqualified to fight Jones right? Why is Jon demanding a UFC record payday to fight a nobody, but not to fight the "HW GOAT" or the biggest star currently in the sport in Poatan?

I totally expected Jones to have been trolling everyone about Aspinall and call him out after Stipe, but he was vague and pretty much said it has to pay tons of money for him to do it. So I expect UFC to announce stripping Jones within the month or Jones fights Aspinall. To be honest, I doubt Aspinall/Jones is on par with Ngannou/Jones.

We've seen some drama built up to sell it more, but I would be shocked if UFC put up the money to do it. The UFC lately has been letting go of the big fights that fighters want to negotiate for, only Abu Dhabi seems to really care to put up that money. UFC seems fine to coast on ESPN 500k guaranteed PPV. They probably promote Aspinall to champ, defends against Gane/Volkov winner, then Pereira challenges whoever wins that.

I don’t think he fights Tom but I also wasn’t impressed with his performance. He’s looks like he’s slower and lost some athleticism with the weight and age.

Stipe was able to land, put pressure on him at times but then he just sat back at range and froze. He’s done at 42. Not sure who in the top 15 Stipe could even beat now. Not many.
