Family court is notoriously biased againt men, so to balance out the bias the female has to have very little going for her. Whilst it's very easy to portray Jon as having very questionable morals and his own kids having the cops called on him and them finding the mother of his kids bloodied up..When determining if a person is fit to parent, the opposition has to be able to question all kinds of aspects of the person's character that could translate to being a bad or good parent, which are quite broad concepts.

Not really. The non custodial parent is generally still required to pay child support. Subject to amount variations based on amount of overnights, if the kid has insurance and who pays it. Things of that nature.
