Yet another post on the topic of Powerlifting on athletic performance, but not going in the same direction as the majority of the gelatinous sherdog natives.
A comparison of Jon Jones physique:
UFC 145, April 21st, 2012- Jones vs Evans
Arguably Jon's best performance
UFC 197: Jon Jones vs OSP April 23, 2016
Arguably Jon's worst performance
First thing to note, not much of a change physique wise if there even is one at all.
I don't think it's fair to say Powerlifting is to blame on his performance, rather OSP's awkward style, movement, ring rust, being cautious, and a lack of pre fight stim snorts.
Anyone who think getting stronger makes you bulkier, slower, or gas quicker has no knowledge or understanding of exercise physiology. In fact, getting stronger will only enhance the above, Strength is relative to speed.
Not training smart enough or hard enough is the only culprit for not being in shape.
DC could also be on to something with Jon speeding past his prime due to his poor lifestyle choices.
That being said, I still believe Jon will win this weekend.
