Jon Jones destroyed the HW division

wahhhhncis deserves some of the blame. He set this all in motion. Jones never woulda come out of retirement for 5 minutes & then re-retire without vacating the belt if francis didn't bail. How dare he leave to go make 1000000000000x more money in 2 boxing fights than the UFC would give him in 100000000000000 combined mma fights. Shame on you Frank!

Francis was UFC HW champion for roughly 150 days.

He quit the UFC instead of fighting Jones.

He quit and went into boxing.

He turned down the Jones fight contract and fled the UFC

Jones proceeds to choke out his last opponent he went the distance with, within seconds

Based on FightMatrix' rankings, who actually demote/remove inactive fighters:

Ngannou was #1 and Gane was #2, when Jones defeated Gane.
Aspinall was #1 (also the interim Champion) and Miocic was Unranked, when Jones defeated Miocic.

Miocic hadn't fought since Mar 2021 and hadn't been ranked since Apr 2022 (Jones and Miocic fought Nov 2024).

Recent statements from Tom point that he's leaning that way, but the UFC is getting in his way because they're promising him the Jon fight will happen and encouraging him to keep waiting. I think what Tom would have to do is give up his previous demand that he only fight for the undisputed title, since the UFC is clearly protecting Jon and refusing to strip him.
Basically it's not up solely to Tom. He has his opponent and his promoter working together to jerk him around.

The HW division is beyond saving. It's the worse division in MMA history right now.

That has nothing to do with the fact that the UFC still having Stipe ranked (let alone ranked #2!) was an absolute joke after 3 years of inactivity. Jones wasn't mentioning Stipe's ranking when calling him out (for good reason, why call attention to that farce). Jones was talking about Stipe's career and it being a "legacy" fight and stuff. Which is fine, but the UFC didn't need to look like morons trying to pretend Stipe was still a top guy to sell the fight. Everyone (including Jones and Stipe) knew what it was.

Funny how Jones had to be paid $500 trillion to fight Ngannou to make it "worth it"..... but then immediately signed to fight Gane and Stipe with no crazy demands. And now he has to fight Aspinall.... all the crazy demands are back.

Meanwhile, Ngannou stepped foot in the ring with two of the best boxers in the world, despite not even being in the sport. That's called taking a risk. Something Jones will only do when he's high on cocaine attacking strippers and pregnant women, oh and his wife, almost forgot about that.

Jones had literally YEARS to fight Ngannou and waited until the VERY DAY he left to move up to HW.

And then POOF all of his crazy financial demands to fight just DISAPPEARED like MAGIC and he signed right away to fight Gane and Stipe with no outrageous demands.
