Jon Jones Destroyed Shogun after just 3 years of MMA training. he was still a rookie back then

3 years of MMA training and about a dozen years of wrestling training.... which is a part of MMA- so 15 years of MMA training.

You can't get excited about what he did to Shogun now knowing he could have been/probably was cowardly cheating.

Its not actually that rare...

Fedor beat Nog 3 1/2 years after debut
Shogun became #1 LHW 3 years after debut
Nog became #1 HW less than 3 years after debut

The issue these days is moreso that fighters often need much longer periods to get noticed and signed by the UFC.

Everyone was shot when they fought jones according to his deniers/haters.

Shogun, Vitor, Rampage etc were all just fresh faced up and comers, so I've no idea how they could draw that conclusion....

Ok, it isn't funny that a Shogun who was clearly shot in the UFC won the LHW title. It is infuriating damnit!
The shogun that fought machida was better than the shogun in pride. More patient. Pretty close to as fast and had more brutal leg kicks. Shogun in pride was a wild brawler with good soccer kicks. Great ground game but he's always had one. Shogun fans are the worst excuse makers of any fan base

I disagree. You're entitled to your opinion. Shogun haters are the worst though.

I'd say give and take, he became slicker standing but also a much less effective and relentless grappler.

The issue is more though that he had another ACL injury before the Jones fight and gassed in less than a round then never recovered his best form as his mobility was shot.

Machida is IMHO a much better win for Jones as he was still not too far off of his best.

Let's argue about a guy who isn't even in the sport.

Anderson Silva defeated prime P4P elite Hayato Sakurai in August 2001, just four years after his pro debut in 1997 and only one year after resuming his career in May 2000 following a three year break.

Train seriously for one year and then take on, and beat, an elite P4P fighter. That’s some accomplishment.
