Um, it did only cost around $70 million so... yeah?
The Democrat official spokesman chimes in with an embarassing opinion that could only be formed by something as brainless as letting politics dictate your thinking. Thanks for validating the smart people who voted for this movie either being better than average, or excellent. The movie sucks
Mhm, but Suicide Squad cost around $100 million more than Joker.Cool, I'm glad as I liked Joker.
I knew it was making money at that level. My question was because I know other DC movies have made money and done around that same box office and were treated as if box office failures as it seemed like any big comic book property that did not cross $1B, or get darn close, was considered to be under performing.
Heck even Suicide Squad did
= Worldwide: $746,846,894
Sure. But they both made gob's of money. My point was more on the top line revenue. It seemed for a while that any big Comic Book movie that did not hit $1B or at least get real close, was mocked as a COMPARATIVE failure.Mhm, but Suicide Squad cost around $100 million more than Joker.
It all depends on the budget.Sure. But they both made gob's of money. My point was more on the top line revenue. It seemed for a while that any big Comic Book movie that did not hit $1B or at least get real close, was mocked as a COMPARATIVE failure.
thx. I'll be interested to see if any one else opines as i don't think i have ever seen budget be the focus in my many years on this thread. It seems to always come down to Domestic and International Box office from my experience. It all depends on the budget.
How many big Comic Book tent pole movies have been made for just around $70 million and have ended up making around $700 million?thx. I know lots of smaller budghet films such as those made by Adam Sandler years ago, and Ben Stiller would celebrated as some of the most profitable films but for big Comic Book tent pole movies it has always seemed to be about top line revenue and that Billion dollar mark.
Exactly,How many big Comic Book tent pole movies have been made for just around $70 million and have ended up making around $700 million?
Precisely because the comic book movies that make around $700 million-$1 billion usually cost around $300 million.Exactly,
Irrelevant to my point as the budget to Box office number is rarely looked at here.
If it was done honestly it would not just matter if is made for $70m. A movie made for $100MM or $150MM or $200MM or $300MM and that makes a Billion should all get very different consideration by your metric if they all make around that $1B mark and yet they DON'T here. It is only the top line focused on here in almost all instances.
Cool, I'm glad as I liked Joker.

Where did politics get mentioned? you have a habit of injecting your politics into conversations by trying to call out other people's supposed use of politics. The Democrat official spokesman chimes in with an embarassing opinion that could only be formed by something as brainless as letting politics dictate your thinking. Agreed., No one talks about whether it is $70MM or $300MM. It is just not a focus.Precisely because the comic book movies that make around $700 million-$1 billion usually cost around $300 million.

Ive seen right leaning posters in here say the movie was boring. Having bad taste in movies isn't a Democrat or Republican thing.
I loved the movie, but it understandably isn't everyone's cup of tea, especially if you came into the movie wanting/expecting a more traditional take on the Joker, and the action of a typical comic book movie.
'Smart people' can accept that other people have different opinions. And you can like a movie like Joker, and also like what Marvel does with no hits on your intelligence.
Ya I agree. It's actually pretty hard to measure the actual profitability of those gigantic budget movies, because they also tack on costs that aren't counted in the general budget, like gigantic ad campaigns that can run up the budget a few more hundred million dollars.
Not to say that a movie that costs $200 million to make, and brings in like half a billion are abject failures, but it might be in terms of investment going forward, because it failed to connect to the audience on the massive scale they were hoping for, and perhaps trended significantly downward after it's initial release. They're basically treating those movies like stocks, in how they view success. It's all about the long term and if they can build a brand off of it. That's what's really changed. These huge budget movie aren't being judged as a one off anymore. If they don't turn a huge profit, and can't build a multi-picture franchise off of it, it's considered a bust, even if it might've made it's money back and then some.
