I went back and watched some youtube clips of Ledger Joker

Too comic book movie for me

Feels like a parody almost

Yeah well like I said, it’s difficult to compare the two considering both movies are so stylistically different from one another. TDK in general has more comic book elements compared to Joker, and it also has the luxury of having Batman to balance out the good and evil aspect. Joaquin’s performance wouldn’t work in TDK, and vice versa.

I just prefer Ledger’s Joker overall, but both actors gave juggernaut performances.

I hope this is nothing like watchmen because that movie is over stylized crap.

If it’s like Logan I’ll be extremely happy

Loved this movie. Best movie of the year for me and so much better than overrated End Game which gets nothing but universal praise.

Chris Stuckmann, one of the few YouTuber movie reviewers I trust on everything but Star Wars, gave Joker an A rating.

Jeremy Jahns liked it too. Def gonna go see this this weekend. Been a long time since I have been to the Cinema. Cant wait.

This movie seems to harken back to the "realistic" superhero movies that Nolan made.

I am fine with seeing it in that light, as just another telling in a history of possible origins of a character who has no canonical origin. DC Elseworlds for the cinematic universe.

I've always been into comics, and still read them.
Of course I want to see faithful retellings of these characters on the big screen, but comic fans really need to be realistic on our expectations here. There's a lot of shit that just doesn't work in a movie as it would in a comic. There's improvements that movies can make, and there's shit in the comics that just doesn't really matter when we're getting to the heart of who the character is, or what the story is about; .
For the Joker, I just don't see him having a origin as being some sort of deep betrayal of his character.
For a lot of these movies, they are going to try and put them in a somewhat realistic world to help better connect with the audience.

It's an origin story, and there was still plenty of room to really turn the Joker into what we know him as had they wanted to make more movies with Phoenix. And while the movie may have made Joker seem like a sympathetic character in some way..
He was still operating by his own rules and was doing things based on his own motives. It could be interesting to see that world view shift and morph in future movies if they ever did that. (especially since he's totally off his meds now)
And Arthur says that there's nothing political about what he's doing--he's not doing it for a movement, he's a dude that finally broke bad and feels free. I was also a fan of the laugh being a medical thing.

I think the Joker in the comics is always going to be a difficult character, because he's dark as hell, and he doesn't fit neatly in your average comic book movie. How do you really put a character like Joker in the same universe as someone like Aquaman or Superman?

This girl who's popular in making reviews on Youtube said it was excellent.

OK, two big problems. First of all, his uncontrollable laughter is caused by a medical condition? A fucking medical condition?! NOOO! It should be caused by his insanity, not any fucking medical condition!

And second, he doesn't kill any innocent people?! He's the fucking Joker, for christ's sake! The Joker's all about killing innocent people! I'll be going into this movie pissed.
Im pretty sure insanity is considered a medical condition lol.

I’m digging the slew of rated r comic book movies. Joker, BOP, and possibly Suicide Squad will all be rated r. It’s a nice refresh from the typical superhero movie. If I ever again see another PG-13 superhero origin movie it might be too soon. I’m so sick of the formula.

Small request, and I know I'm being a bit of a dumb ass here, for checking into a thread discussing the movie, but can we all agree to "SPOILER" finer points of the movie, at least for the first week of its release? Come October 11th, have at it, and I will not whinge over it.

Phoenix is the perfect actor to play Joker. He has that kind of psycho vibe anyway . Hes always been a great actor anyway. I just doubt he would really do a follow up flick to this

I think hes adequate, but Willem Dafoe shouldve had the Joker role from the starr.

Caught it right after work.

Surprisingly the theater was kinda empty (but the girl who sold our tickets told us the earlier showings was completely full). So packed enough to get 2 screens but not a third screen at around 5-6PM?... not sure.

Movie was awesome. 10/10. Might see it again actually.

I fuckin' knew his time with the chick was all in his fuckin' head. LOL. Tell tell sign was the fact that the daughter was nowhere to be found nor mentioned at all...
