OK, two big problems. First of all, his uncontrollable laughter is caused by a medical condition? A fucking medical condition?! NOOO! It should be caused by his insanity, not any fucking medical condition!

And second, he doesn't kill any innocent people?! He's the fucking Joker, for christ's sake! The Joker's all about killing innocent people! I'll be going into this movie pissed.
This movie seems to harken back to the "realistic" superhero movies that Nolan made.

I am fine with seeing it in that light, as just another telling in a history of possible origins of a character who has no canonical origin. DC Elseworlds for the cinematic universe.

My biggest prob really is making jokers kills symphatetic

In taxi driver it was implied that people travis thought were bad and tried to kill/killed werent that bad really

Apart from the Presidential candidate he tried to kill, can't say I agree with you.

Robberer bad yeah sure

But the pimp that he killed, they imply that he and iris have actually romantic feelings for one another and that iris is in it out of her will.

Which makes the pimp a moral grey area in the context of movie because travis kills him because of iris

A moral grey area? He pimps a child. He's a cunt.

Not defending it but my point just was that travis killing the guy makes him the bad guy in the eyes of iris who he is trying to save.

Something like that but im talking out of memory so i might be wrong

Being a child, Iris doesn't fully understand her own situation.

This. It doesn't matter if a child is, "in love" with an adult and wants to have sex with him. He's still a worthless piece of shit if he does it. Never mind pimping her out.

It's been a long time since I watched Taxi Driver, but isn't there a scene where the pimp tells Travis he can't be too rough with Jodi Foster's character...because that means he wouldn't be able to rent her to other perverts?

This makes me wonder- has there ever been a villain in superhero comics that's a :eek::eek::eek:phile? Even when they want to emphasize how bad a villain is, this is a line they never cross- at least with recurring characters. I know Spiderman, Punisher and Daredevil have occasional run-ins with street-level :eek::eek::eek:s, but they're just one-off randoms. What about someone like Bullseye or Green Goblin raping kids. The Red Skull literally kills babies, but even he would never be depicted as a :eek::eek::eek:.

Caught it last night. I agree with everything DL said about it, but I’d personally give it a rating of 9/10.

This is a really fucking great movie. It’s not so much a 10/10 masterpiece that some critics were claiming, but it’s up there for sure. My favorite movie of 2019 so far.

I fairly certain Mark Millar took something he read in an Alan Moore treatise on handling the depiction of sexual relationships in comics, and made it conspicuous. The idea is that while we never bring up sexuality, we never not-bring it up either; therefore the presentation itself can lead readers to draw their own conclusions. The example Moore used was an analog of Batman and Robin, in which the Robin character was a niece of the Batman character -- and while they never establish they carried on an incestuous affair, they never didn't do it either. Moore did not take these analogues past the treatise stage, but I suspect Millar did with KICK-ASS.

That's not what I wrote or meant. I won't say anything else for spoiler purposes.

Bruce sure loves dick.

Been waiting for the DL seal of approval

<Prem974>

That seals it, been hearing too mucj good stuff about this. Gonna have to check it out. Improbably, DC seems to be righting the ship. Shazam was fantastic.

Blade is better than Logan and The Watchmen

I want to say Spawn is also, but that is more nostalgia speaking I think.

Blade tho is a master class, especially considering it is over 20 years old

FYI - Even though it’s difficult to compare the two, I think I still prefer Ledger’s Joker.

What does any of that have to do with Joker?
