Media Joe Rogan says Tom Aspinall may NEVER fight again after getting eye surgery

Ya know I shit on Francis a lot for being a conman and a fake guy but one thing you could never accuse him of lacking was aura. Even when he walked into the Gane fight with one functioning knee, he still exuded that feeling of being the judge, jury and executioner.

We really went from a stud like that to Jon and Tom, guys who ducked the no.1 contender for a fight against an old man and melt like ice cream under a hot sun at the first sign of adversity respectively.

IDK why but I feel the UFC are going to strip Tom of the title. If he has surgery and can't guarantee them a return date, then he might have to vacate. Such a shame.

jokes aside, as far as today we don't even know if Tom has actually informed the UFC: he recently said he hasn't spoken to dana yet (and i assume, maybe wrongly, that with "Dana" he meant the ufc)
In any case, if he'd had more precise information, i'm sure he would have shown it on social media some time ago, so if i put myself in the UFC's shoes i would find myself in front of an employee who talks on social media about an unspecified injury and an unspecified surgery on an unknown date to correct something yet to be clarified that could keep him away from competition for who knows how long.

TLDR i am pretty sure that the UFC'll strip him sooner than later

I'm assuming the UFC is waiting for the right match. It's a bad look to strip Tom and not Topuria.

They won't strip Tom to make Gane vs Volkov rematch. They'd just make that an interim title.

But if they get Pereira vs Gane or Pereira vs Jones, then they will probably strip Tom.

it's actually the opposite: Topuria isn't "injured" and all his issues may be solved or just lightened enough in literally months while Tom's alleged problems and recovery time are still officially completely unknown.

It doesn't matter why you're out. Topuria hasn't had a fight since June. Tom fought in October. People might not like the outcome of that fight, but it still counts.

If Topuria is going to be given 12+ months without a title defense, then Tom should too. But that is of course if you are acting rationally and not being a hypocrite.

Now, do I think the UFC will do that? No. Merit is out the window with Dana White lately. I think Dana is waiting for Jon Jones and/or Alex Pereira to agree to a HW fight, before stripping Tom of the title.

Gable Stevenson vs Jon Jones for the Interim at UFC 250.

Topuria fought a full fight and finished it with a knockout. But even if he didn’t, they’re making an interim title fight for his division as we speak.

"may be solved in months."
=
"Topuria & Tom both have issues with unknown resolution dates, but I like Topuria."
