Joe Rogan isnt sold on the Bing Bang theory finds Jesus resurrection more plausible

I think you should take what is useful and discard what is useless.

The Bible was obviously written by men and it contains a lot of universal wisdom as well as a bunch of outdated stuff that doesn’t apply.

As for this specific event, obviously the further back in history you go, the more difficult it would be to verify so yeah some of the Old Testament stuff is questionable, but again the book is not meant to be taken literally, and whether something really happened or not is less relevant than the lesson that it teaches.

By your logic “who are we” to judge what in the Bible is useful? You claim we can’t generate our own morals without god so how are equipped to make this judgement?

I don't profess to know the truth. You fight, right? What's your favorite fighter?

I've got two. Alexis Arguello is my first. He never stopped. I'm gonna chill and watch his fight with Pryor. And nah, I ain't smart.

Depends on the sport- mma I’m partial to Justin gajthe (although I just had a come to Jesus talk with a stud college wrestler who lost his pro debut bc he was brawling for fun instead of wrestling. I’d hate to be Justin’s coach).

Kickboxing I love rob kaman because god damn those low kicks were savage.

Muay Thai I love luke lessei but that’s cheating bc I’m friends with him.

Boxing? Loma.

Bare knuckle? Christine ferea has a lot of craft and is mean as hell in there.

Slap jitsu? Again, my bias showing but Liz the titan Tracy is a dear friend and a god damn savage on the mats

We cannot generate morals, yet we are made in God's image.

There is no good reason to inflict harm on an innocent member of your own species tho.
Euthanasia. Abortion. Vaccination. Surgeries. All good reasons to me, but I’m not religious. Who defines innocence? Two clans at war where both sides consider themselves the righteous ones.

Why the Bible, specifically?

I'd certainly like to see your western self try to hack it for more than a month.
Me too. I’ve lived out of a backpack and hitch checked across the United States a couple times. I was broke as shit when I was in Japan I made it work. I figure when the kid leaves for college I’m moving to Thailand to teach Boxing anyways and I’m sure that will be a great jumping off point for the rest of the immediate area surrounding that country

Then do it. There's nothing stopping you from living that amazing Buddhist lifestyle. It's not like you need a license.
That is the plan. I’m gonna let my kid finish school though. I really appreciate your support and encouragement. We might not see eye to eye on a lot of political or even social ideas but it’s pretty nice that you can be so cool

What does that have to do with Buddhism? What about their governmental systems Reflect Buddhism?
I don’t know, but do you think it’s just a coincidence that not a single country where Buddhism or Islam are the main religion has very good living standards? I can’t think of even one where I would want to stay even just to spend the night.

Japan was amazing. My wife had a wonderful time in Mongolia producing a documentary. So there’s two for you

I'm always here for you, Taco-san.

Never been there, but I've always wanted to visit Japan

I’m pretty sure Shintoism is the main religion in Japan, but yeah, I’ll concede that they have a lot of Buddhist too.

That said I love Japan, they are always the exception to the rule in pretty much everything, and even though it’s geographically not located in the west, I consider it a western society.

But Mongolia, dude seriously you wouldn’t last a week. It’s a fascinating society, especially with their historic conquest 800 years ago, but from all the documentaries I saw the place is in a pretty sad state these days.

Be that as it may, I don’t buy into the premise that because millions of people practice a religion in a country it somehow manages to mean that the government runs things based off of that religion. It may be true sometimes but I believe that those are exceptions to the rule.

Sure, I'm not denying the Big Bang happened or trying to argue that. But, based on physics, there's also never been any sort of case where something came from nothing. We know there was an explosion of energy, but from where? Wouldn't it make some sort of sense that eventually somewhere there was a point of creation that goes beyond that?

Any time that question gets asked, it goes back to a loop of "I don't know". The more questions you can answer, the more questions you end up having.
That's not quite true. There are particles coming in and out of existence in our universe. From what little I understand it has to do with quantum states and as soon as the states are measured the particles disappear. We do not know why there were more particles than antiparticles that allowed the universe to form. It's something for future scientists to perhaps answer.

Scientists can say "I don't know" for any question and that's completely valid. Science evolves as we discover new phenomenon.

Religion evolves as well but it evolves in order to accomplish some task like structuring power or controlling the populace. We're on probably 100th? 1000th? iteration of Christianity compared to what the original apocalyptic preacher known as Yeshu taught in his sermons....
