American speaking: Some of the larger tech companies have such a monopoly or wide control of their domain that they need to be broken up or regulated. They're too powerful for private/ public companies because they are growing to have the equivalent power of government agencies. The amount of information they collect and the amount of the narrative they control are national security risks.

Not real sure what you're asking. 1st amendment doesn't apply to medical insurance and free speech rights would apply no matter who is in charge.

I don't use twitter and don't really care who runs it if it isn't costing me money, but for censorship purposes, you would at least have some recourse with the SCOTUS if the government banned you for some shitty subjective enforcement of vague terms of service like they have now.

I love the podcast, Joes a real awesome dude. I don’t really care to listen to other people’s political opinions or their random ramblings in a 1-way conversation all that often though. So I pick and choose which episodes to listen to. I generally only listen to the experts or people I’ve never heard of in fields that interest me. I get the odd one I can’t make it through but it’s a lot more hits than misses.

I literally just said in my last post that I don't care who runs it because I don't use it. It's not like they aren't banning and shadow banning people with the existing ownership, they just aren't accountable to anybody when they do. Current ownership can ban your opinion with no recourse while the FCC could maybe ban profanity, so I guess those are the 2 choices. I don't think the government taking over twitter is a realistic possibility anyway.

He’s taking a much stronger stance ever since ha accidentally endorsed Bernie. Imo his show is much better when he speaks freely about stuff like fighting, hunting, stand up, being a father and husband and doesn’t overstep his limits with issues he doesn’t understand.

Should the government only oversee Twitter? What about YouTube? What about my personal Facebook page? Should Fox News website be forced to provide a platform to someone with an opposing political view? Should they be forced to financially compensate that person? Is that free speech? This sounds so fucking dangerous to me. You guys just need a Fox News for internet videos and political commentary. There is big money to be made there. If’s there is a demand for this content someone will find a way to make money off of it.

Honestly, the government wouldn't be half as bad at politicalcensorship as the twitter people. The government is at least bound by the first amendment and can't ban and censor users by claiming "private company, build your own internet".

The FCC already has rules restricting the broadcast of indecent and profane material between 6am and 10pm. Good luck doing a live podcast with cursing, or looking at some cam porn under those rules.

Joe Rogan doesn't really know what he's saying. But from what I've gathered, he's in favour of government interfering in order to ensure free speech, not to restrict it.

It will all go to shit in any case, regardless of whether it's the government or corporations making the decisions, because at this point there's hardly a difference between the two. Free speech on the internet is fucked.
