I could support universal background check on private sale, if it were free and easy to do. I would support taking guns from mentally unstable people under conditions. Thing such as funding public mental health care and giving a clear path for people to be able to gain their rights back after being cleared of a mental health crisis. The fear would be that it such a thing would be used to withhold someones right to gun ownership permanently if they had a mental health crisis. I dont support assault riffle bans or mag restrictions.

If you want to see the slippery slope look north. Up here it only takes being accused of a crime and they suspend your firearms licence.
