FOX had to pay out nearly $1B for spreading lies that they knew were lies.
Jimmy told the truth.
“A guy said some shit on a podcast” is purposefully reductive and shows your bias in the situation.Violating FCC regulations is up to interpretation in most cases. It's why networks have fought them in the past, instead of folding like ABC did here. And those fights took place in legit legal settings. The FCC wasn't even officially involved here. A guy said some shit on a podcast.
I have been consistent in my messaging on this issue and will continue to do so. I wouldn’t care if ABC fired Kimmel for any reason at all. Private company, it’s their right.Just admit you're mad that it happened to your guy, and you don't actually give a shit about anything else.
But but any network/personality that has been threatened by the FCC.Yeah its clear you dont know what the fuck you are talking about. But but Howard Stern.

ABC has suspended "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" following comments the late-night talk show host made on the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
"'Jimmy Kimmel Live' will be pre-empted indefinitely," a spokesperson for the network confirmed on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
"Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse," said Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, of which ABC is an affiliate.
Earlier on Wednesday, Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr had urged local broadcasters to stop airing the show on Disney-owned ABC DIS.N.

Jimmy Kimmel pulled off-air following FCC threats over Charlie Kirk comments
Jimmy Kimmel's comments about Charlie Kirk's assassination came under harsh criticism from the head of the Federal Communications Commission.www.usatoday.com
Yeah, and? The FCC did not file any official complaint or levy any fines. ABC decided to drop the problem they had, which is their right as a private company.“A guy said some shit on a podcast” is purposefully reductive and shows your bias in the situation.
The guy was the head of the FCC. The current administration believed so highly in podcasts they’ve given them preferential treatment in the White House press corps. This particular “podcaster” has 12 million subscribers across all platforms.
That's exactly what they did, though. Kimmel got fired for "any reason at all", so why do you care?I have been consistent in my messaging on this issue and will continue to do so. I wouldn’t care if ABC fired Kimmel for any reason at all. Private company, it’s their right.
They filed complaints and fined Howard Stern(and the networks that employed him) for the same shit. The world didn't end. It's quite literally their job to keep networks in check with the content they provide. Free speech ain't got nothin' to do with it. Nobody is being arrested here.My problem is the federal government threatening a private company over constitutionally protected speech.
Boo hoo...
No he didn't. He said MAGA was trying to score points off the murderer by pointing out he was not one of them.
The point is that MAGA people care about the fact that this guy was dating a trans person and was a leftist more than the fact he murdered somebody. He's saying there is a hypocrisy and opportunism.
Which is of course true, though the left does the same. It was a dumb and unfunny point.
I don't see anything that warrants Kimmel to be cancelled here, however. Anyone who applauds this is a knee-bending nimrod.
Dude literally went from:lol the dude has been spiraling here this year ..
But he might have been in the sun all day, the other day, the free Luigi protest was outside that court room.
How is that better? Rather than going through official channels and following protocol they just threatened to take ABC’s broadcasting license instead.Yeah, and? The FCC did not file any official complaint or levy any fines. ABC decided to drop the problem they had, which is their right as a private company.
Because the government told them too and made threats about if they didn’t.That's exactly what they did, though. Kimmel got fired for "any reason at all", so why do you care?
They didn’t pull their license. And stern was in direct violation of title 47, Kimmel wasn’t.They filed complaints and fined Howard Stern(and the networks that employed him) for the same shit.
No argument here. But what Kimmel said that pissed everyone off was say something that wasn’t true. Politicians, news shows, comedians- everyone does this every day.The world didn't end. It's quite literally their job to keep networks in check with the content they provide.
If the government gets involved then it becomes about free speech.Free speech ain't got nothin' to do with it. Nobody is being arrested here.
Kimmel didn’t open them up to lawsuits. He didn’t knowingly spread a lie. You understand that that’s what Tucker did, right? It’s not close to the same situation. Stop being an idiotKimmel didn't get canceled you goobers. He got fired for saying something stupid while costing ABC millions for having ratings lower than cat videos on Youtube.
My shift in stance has nothing to do with the president. But to understand that you would have to actually read my posts and digest them and frankly that’s a talent you don’t poses.Dude literally went from:
"It's not Israel's fault Hamas hides among civilians. Every civilian death is on their hands!"
To:
"This is genocide! Free Free Palestine!"
All because of who is President. There's not a genuine bone in his body.
It's better, because they hadn't actually gotten involved. ABC could've called their bluff, but they decided Kimmel wasn't worth it.How is that better? Rather than going through official channels and following protocol they just threatened to take ABC’s broadcasting license instead.
So? ABC doesn't have to fold.Because the government told them too and made threats about if they didn’t.
Kimmel also didn't have any official action taken against him, so the point is moot. They didn’t pull their license. And stern was in direct violation of title 47, Kimmel wasn’t.
So?No argument here. But what Kimmel said that pissed everyone off was say something that wasn’t true. Politicians, news shows, comedians- everyone does this every day.
Well, I got news for ya then. They've always been involved. The FCC is an arm of the government, and they're job is to keep networks in check, regardless of "free speech". It's not a free for all.If the government gets involved then it becomes about free speech.
Sure buddy. We all believe you.My shift in stance has nothing to do with the president.
They've fucked things up massively.I've said before, the biggest failing of the left is their inability to understand the pendulum always swings the other way eventually.
Well, he absolutely did spread a lie and slandered the President for good measure.Kimmel didn’t open them up to lawsuits. He didn’t knowingly spread a lie.
It doesn't really matter. Both networks are independent, and they both made independent decisions. You understand that that’s what Tucker did, right? It’s not close to the same situation. Stop being an idiot
If you want to argue with me about it go respond in one of those threads. The reason you’re ignoring what I wrote in this thread is because deep down you know you’re a spineless worm that doesn’t really have any values. So you misrepresent me from other threads and ignore what I said in here. It’s easier because you know you won’t when arguing against what I actually say.Sure buddy. We all believe you.
He didn’t lie, but that’s actually neither here nor there. To win defamation you have to prove they knew they were lying. Guess what? Tucker knew he was lying, that he was hurting that company, and it was all provable because he put it in his emails.Well, he absolutely did spread a lie and slandered the President for good measure.
It doesn't really matter. Both networks are independent, and they both made independent decisions.
I'm not misrepresenting you. You're opinion on the Israel/Palestine conflict did a hard 180, right around January 20th-ish for some mysterious reason...If you want to argue with me about it go respond in one of those threads. The reason you’re ignoring what I wrote in this thread is because deep down you know you’re a spineless worm that doesn’t really have any values. So you misrepresent me from other threads and ignore what I said in here. It’s easier because you know you won’t when arguing against what I actually say.
What leads to believe they were bluffing? It's better, because they hadn't actually gotten involved. ABC could've called their bluff, but they decided Kimmel wasn't worth it.
Their options were fold, or lose billions. Not really a choice at that point,So? ABC doesn't have to fold.
He was fired.Kimmel also didn't have any official action taken against him, so the point is moot.
So if demonstrates both a double standard and a personal vendetta against one man for what he said.
Correct. And what Kimmel said wasn’t in violation of any free speech laws or title 47 rule on the books.Well, I got news for ya then. They've always been involved. The FCC is an arm of the government, and they're job is to keep networks in check, regardless of "free speech". It's not a free for all.
