Violating FCC regulations is up to interpretation in most cases. It's why networks have fought them in the past, instead of folding like ABC did here. And those fights took place in legit legal settings. The FCC wasn't even officially involved here. A guy said some shit on a podcast.
“A guy said some shit on a podcast” is purposefully reductive and shows your bias in the situation.

The guy was the head of the FCC. The current administration believed so highly in podcasts they’ve given them preferential treatment in the White House press corps. This particular “podcaster” has 12 million subscribers across all platforms.
Just admit you're mad that it happened to your guy, and you don't actually give a shit about anything else.
I have been consistent in my messaging on this issue and will continue to do so. I wouldn’t care if ABC fired Kimmel for any reason at all. Private company, it’s their right.

My problem is the federal government threatening a private company over constitutionally protected speech.

Yeah its clear you dont know what the fuck you are talking about. But but Howard Stern.
But but any network/personality that has been threatened by the FCC.

Sorry that ABC decided to get rid of some useless piece of shit, instead of defending him.

ABC has suspended "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" following comments the late-night talk show host made on the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
"'Jimmy Kimmel Live' will be pre-empted indefinitely," a spokesperson for the network confirmed on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

"Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse," said Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, of which ABC is an affiliate.
Earlier on Wednesday, Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr had urged local broadcasters to stop airing the show on Disney-owned ABC DIS.N.

That fat pile of shit got exactly what he deserved. Go fuck yourself Jimmy Kimmel.

Yeah, and? The FCC did not file any official complaint or levy any fines. ABC decided to drop the problem they had, which is their right as a private company.

That's exactly what they did, though. Kimmel got fired for "any reason at all", so why do you care?

They filed complaints and fined Howard Stern(and the networks that employed him) for the same shit. The world didn't end. It's quite literally their job to keep networks in check with the content they provide. Free speech ain't got nothin' to do with it. Nobody is being arrested here.

lol, the left makes me laugh

“Let’s do to Disney what we did to Target”

Uhh, the left didn’t do anything to Target.

That was the right too. That’s why Target isn’t running back to their tuck friendly bikini bottoms and DEI programs that put them under fire anyway..but Target isn’t going anywhere anytime soon either.

And Disney is slowly but surely abandoning you guys as well

Boo hoo...

Tucker got fired because his private texts were problematic . Tuck knew the election fraud stuff was bullshit but was pissed Newsmax was getting better ratings because Newsmax were willing to air a fairy tale to their viewers.
Much like Kimmel, the Golden Rule got Tuck. He cost Fox News damn near 900 million.

It is amazing you Rubes are so inept at following the money. Everything is emotional with you dudes. Money makes the world go round once you realize that it is easier to understand why things happen.

Its just like Epstein files. YOu guys keep saying why Biden did not release it. Biden much like Trump is covering for billionaires, there are CEO's and large political donors on that list. The difference between Biden not releasing it and Trump not releasing it, is Biden was not on it, but what they do have in common, is covering for Elite PDF's.

No he didn't. He said MAGA was trying to score points off the murderer by pointing out he was not one of them.

The point is that MAGA people care about the fact that this guy was dating a trans person and was a leftist more than the fact he murdered somebody. He's saying there is a hypocrisy and opportunism.

Which is of course true, though the left does the same. It was a dumb and unfunny point.

I don't see anything that warrants Kimmel to be cancelled here, however. Anyone who applauds this is a knee-bending nimrod.

Ah. Ok. What I read initially was incorrect then. Thanks for clearing that up. In any case he works for a private employer. Not saying I agree or disagree with his firing but if I were a late night comedian I’d probably just leave sensitive subjects alone for the most part.

lol the dude has been spiraling here this year ..

But he might have been in the sun all day, the other day, the free Luigi protest was outside that court room.
Dude literally went from:

"It's not Israel's fault Hamas hides among civilians. Every civilian death is on their hands!"

To:

"This is genocide! Free Free Palestine!"

All because of who is President. There's not a genuine bone in his body.

Yeah, and? The FCC did not file any official complaint or levy any fines. ABC decided to drop the problem they had, which is their right as a private company.
How is that better? Rather than going through official channels and following protocol they just threatened to take ABC’s broadcasting license instead.
That's exactly what they did, though. Kimmel got fired for "any reason at all", so why do you care?
Because the government told them too and made threats about if they didn’t.
They filed complaints and fined Howard Stern(and the networks that employed him) for the same shit.
They didn’t pull their license. And stern was in direct violation of title 47, Kimmel wasn’t.
The world didn't end. It's quite literally their job to keep networks in check with the content they provide.
No argument here. But what Kimmel said that pissed everyone off was say something that wasn’t true. Politicians, news shows, comedians- everyone does this every day.
Free speech ain't got nothin' to do with it. Nobody is being arrested here.
If the government gets involved then it becomes about free speech.

Kimmel didn't get canceled you goobers. He got fired for saying something stupid while costing ABC millions for having ratings lower than cat videos on Youtube.
Kimmel didn’t open them up to lawsuits. He didn’t knowingly spread a lie. You understand that that’s what Tucker did, right? It’s not close to the same situation. Stop being an idiot

My shift in stance has nothing to do with the president. But to understand that you would have to actually read my posts and digest them and frankly that’s a talent you don’t poses.

I’ve never said the words “free Palestine “ and I’ve never called it a genocide by the way. Won’t stop you and the idiot brigade from jerking each other off though

It's better, because they hadn't actually gotten involved. ABC could've called their bluff, but they decided Kimmel wasn't worth it.
Because the government told them too and made threats about if they didn’t.
So? ABC doesn't have to fold.
They didn’t pull their license. And stern was in direct violation of title 47, Kimmel wasn’t.
Kimmel also didn't have any official action taken against him, so the point is moot.

Well, I got news for ya then. They've always been involved. The FCC is an arm of the government, and they're job is to keep networks in check, regardless of "free speech". It's not a free for all.

I've said before, the biggest failing of the left is their inability to understand the pendulum always swings the other way eventually.
They've fucked things up massively.

There was a genuine consensus in the 90s-00s that we should all respect freedom of speech. Most conservatives had grudgingly accepted this and there seemed to be a peace between the two sides. Then these morons on the left thought they could silence anyone they disagreed with. The pushbak was always going to destroy them

Kimmel didn’t open them up to lawsuits. He didn’t knowingly spread a lie.
Well, he absolutely did spread a lie and slandered the President for good measure.
You understand that that’s what Tucker did, right? It’s not close to the same situation. Stop being an idiot
It doesn't really matter. Both networks are independent, and they both made independent decisions.

Sure buddy. We all believe you.
If you want to argue with me about it go respond in one of those threads. The reason you’re ignoring what I wrote in this thread is because deep down you know you’re a spineless worm that doesn’t really have any values. So you misrepresent me from other threads and ignore what I said in here. It’s easier because you know you won’t when arguing against what I actually say.

He didn’t lie, but that’s actually neither here nor there. To win defamation you have to prove they knew they were lying. Guess what? Tucker knew he was lying, that he was hurting that company, and it was all provable because he put it in his emails.

That’s not canceling or cancel culture. No one ever said it’s wrong to fire someone for breaking the law.

I'm not misrepresenting you. You're opinion on the Israel/Palestine conflict did a hard 180, right around January 20th-ish for some mysterious reason...

I also haven't ignored anything you've said here, so why lie? I know it's hard for a leftist to grasp, but not agreeing with you =/= ignoring you.

It's better, because they hadn't actually gotten involved. ABC could've called their bluff, but they decided Kimmel wasn't worth it.
What leads to believe they were bluffing?
So? ABC doesn't have to fold.
Their options were fold, or lose billions. Not really a choice at that point,
Kimmel also didn't have any official action taken against him, so the point is moot.
He was fired.
So if demonstrates both a double standard and a personal vendetta against one man for what he said.
Well, I got news for ya then. They've always been involved. The FCC is an arm of the government, and they're job is to keep networks in check, regardless of "free speech". It's not a free for all.
Correct. And what Kimmel said wasn’t in violation of any free speech laws or title 47 rule on the books.

The administration didn’t like it, so they threatened him. Take a step back from left and right, democrat and republican and look at this for what it is- massive governmental over reach and the censorship of protected speech because they didn’t like it.
