That's one thing to defend the constitutional rights. But to say that comment that gun deaths are needed to hold up the second amendment is extreme imo.

But the second amendment is dated and should be revised I believe. But that's for another topic / thread.

With all this said, speech should be protected, unless it's some explicit call for violence, or something serious like that. What the FCC did by meddling in this was authoritarian bullshit, and it can't be condoned.

We lost freedom of speech in the summer of 2020.
I don’t know why the people who took away that freedom started crying about it and accusing the other side of taking it away, 4 years later.

Yeah, not just me then, I was in blissful ignorance of his hackery after I'd put him on ignore within about 5secs of reading his pompous, bloviating screeds in the WR, but here he is all un-ignorable and plastering threads with his repetitive tedium, like that nightmare scene from Clockwork Orange.

Saint Charlie was a Free Speech Absolutist. Any allowances for some supposed snowflake niceties or sensitivities would be despoiling his very memory.

He said: "I think it’s worth it. It’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God given rights"....

He then went on to compare it to automobile deaths saying nobody would argue to give up vehicles to save 50K people a year because it was worth the trade off. He then went into how we need to find other ways to prevent gun deaths such as armed school guards and having fathers in the homes.

By all means crap on what he said if you like. But at least represent what he said correctly. Ive seen this out of context or misquoting stuff a ton surrounding his past quotes.

Fair enough. Although, I believe it's a matter of interpretation. It does come off to me that 'he doesn't mind.' That's just my impression I get.

'Free Speech' refers to the government not being able to find or imprison people related to all statements that are not direct threats or calls to violence.

However, a person's speech may have consequences from their employers.
If someone praises murder the government can't touch them, however their employer may not want to be associated with people of such character and choose to end their employment.
Other employees & customers may not like to hear an employee be in favor of their murder over a political disagreement.
And in sports & entertainment morality clauses are common.

Freedom of association & freedom to end association.

Freedom of speech, but not freedom of consequence.
