The longest book I've ever read, at least by page count, was Reclaiming History, by Vincent Bugliosi (prosecutor most famous for getting Manson & Co locked up). It was 1600+ pages, then came with a CD for the annotated endnotes, which would have made it 1000+ more pages.

Not only does he go over what actually happened, he debunks every single conspiracy surrounding it. TL/DR - Oswald did it and he acted alone.

It was the mafia.
They previously were working with the cia and Nixon to assassinate Castro during the Eisenhower administration. In exchange they would be allowed to open their casinos back up in Havana. The plan was abandoned.
The plan was reinstated during the Kennedy administration but the mafia was left out and they weren’t going to be able to open their casinos.
Unfortunately the mafia had some inside people that found out about this new plan. They were pissed and used the plan that was to be used to kill Castro, shot during a motorcade, to kill JFK.
