And whether or not he was going to kill himself, this case brought with it a huge prior probability of people claiming that Epstein would be murdered.

Here's one idea for what could cause an actual conflict of interest. Say we had good reason (evidence) to believe that Barr was (or could plausibly be) implicated in Epstein's crimes, and he controlled the investigation. Like if Dershowitz were AG, that would be a good example because Dershowitz got massages there. He should recuse himself in that hypothetical. That would be a conflict because his presence is likely to foul the investigation.

There's no such line between Barr as AG today and investigating Epstein's suicide.
