We've seen time and time again where power punchers can't close the skill gap and land that bomb. Luckily for the current featherweights, Volkanovski isn't getting younger. I wouldn't give Jean Silva a chance against Volk 3 years ago, and I love Silva.

Volk has been KO´d twice recently, i wouldnt be so shocked if it actually happens sooner than later, Lopes already put on a beating on him and Volk is already thinking of returning soon, Silva might get derailed, but him vs Volk would be a banger, by the time he gets to fight for the belt its most likely a different man holding it.

I mean, by the time Jean gets to the point of title contention.. Volk could be 38+. If Jean gets to title contention anyway, I don't think we've seen enough from him that leads me to believe he will probably be champ.

As it stands I wouldn't be shocked if he got dominated by most top 10 guys, we'll see.

sure he can, but he's rather simplistic in his combinations. left hook, right hand, left hook. Volk has beaten more diverse strikers, i think his submissions is what he can surprise Volk with.

Maybe he could, too bad Volk will be retired long before Jean ever gets near a title shot.

The guy just broke into the top 15, now let's see him beat someone between 5-10 like a Brian Ortega, or Arnold Allen, or even that mini Leon Edwards guy who just beat Emmet.

If he can pass that test, he gets a top 5 guy like a Yair or Diego Lopez, and then a title shot if he wins.

Volk will point fight and dance away from him and likely give us a stinker. I don't think Jean Silva has the footwork or experience to get this done right now.

Topuria made it look easy because he's got outstanding technique to go along with his athleticism and power. Silva is still improving but he's not on that level, at least not yet.

I suspect you're right, but also wouldn't be surprised at all if he tagged and dropped Volk.

Jean is a contender. I think Volk can grind him against the fence but he will eventually get clipped. I don't know if Volk can survive that shot.

He has a better chance of putting volk away than most the other featherweights, although I don't know if I'd favor him. Personally I think volk should fight Evloev and retire on top if he wins, but who knows how long volk will stay around.

I need to watch it again, but I think people are really overestimating how good Diego did against Volk. Diego is awesome and will be champion one day, but he looked completely outclassed compared to all his past fights, including Evloev. I think Jean might want to face Josh (who Ilia could not knock out) or even Diego before calling out Volk and Evloev. In Jean's defense, he did better against Bryce than Ilia.

I'm a big fan of Volk but would not in any way say he's a FAR superior striker thsn Silva.
