Here's a link to the original article (in Portuguese): http://nagradedomma.blogosfera.uol.com.br/2013/01/11/cigano-revela-que-problemas-pessoais-e-de-saude-afetaram-sua-atuacao-e-desabafa-sobre-entregada/

According to the translation offered by mixedmartialarts.com (http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/news/435404/JDS-cites-personal-problems-as-contributing-to-loss/), this is what JDS says (which is omitted from the ESPN article you quoted): " I lost this fight because Velasquez was better this time".

I'm not trying to pick a fight, just saying that in the same article where JDS offers excuses, he himself concludes that he lost because Cain was better.

"I was so good that I ended up crossing the line. "

I was so good that I was bad? Dude needs to stop and just concentrate on getting back in the mix.

Well he will have to prove himself in his next few fights with some impressive victories to convince me.

Also:

Posting nothing but images like that "RaggedyRooster"guy does should give infractions or dubs, is it really so hard for people to form a sentence these days?

Was a big fan of JDS, you got your ass beat, live with it, last time it was Cain. The excuse train for fighters is getting foolish. Hey man up and tell the world you took him lightly and thought it would be anoth fast knock out and he was better prepared.

Damn when you see that right hand in slow mo... hes winding it up from his feet almost, but looks so fast in real time.

saying he was better after providing a thousand excuses is useless. 'excuse...excuse..excuse..excuse..but he was better.'

A Brazilian offering up excuses as to why they lost a fight? No way!

I agree with you that he provided excuses (overtrained, creatinine, personal problems) - my point was that the article quoted in the OP conveniently included the excuses and omitted the part where JDS actually admits Cain was better.

Ya I hate when guys make excuses after, look you're an elite fighter that got beat uo by another elite fighter. No one is looking down on you, Cain would destroy anyone that is reading this. Heal up, get back in the gym, come back strong and take the rubber. Don't like this side of JDS for sure although I'm still a big fan.

JDS really needs to curb the excuses and trash talk. Starting to lose fans.

Its probably due to the unreliable translation. What I think he meant after reading the link was that he overtrained before the fight when doctors alerted him to his abnormally high creatine kinease levels.

Sigh it's the Brazilian way after a fight, even if you win (Anderson Silva rib injury). That said JDS said on every occasion that Cain was better than him on the night.

Funny, when Anderson Silva makes excuses for his off nights everyone just says "Oh, well i guess that makes sense, time to move on"

JDS is the nicest guy in the sport, get off his shit.

Actually a lot of Sherdoggers were all over Silva saying that Sonnen will beat him the next round and that Silva literally generated the bruised rib excuse after the fight.
