Jaws is so watcheable / most rewatchable movies

I’m still amazed at this practical effect 40 years later

i reckon I will have to take a gander at jaws and Shawshank redemption now. I've watched random scenes of jaws but it never kept my attention. I don't know of a movie I've watched recently that I liked enough to remember it.

Here is something im just throwing out there. I dont think too highly of world war z as a movie but i can watch it over and over and over.

Sorry but you can see a rod under the shark s fin. And the shark looks like rubber from the side.
It’s still amazing to me that they were able to work with the elements of the ocean to create a 25 foot mechanical shark swim and eventually breach then have a fishing boat they could break and sink on command. It’s some timeless compared to a CGI shot that would have no soul or feel to it.

Jaws, Rocky, Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, Ghostbusters, and The Goonies have been the movies in my life I can never turn down. Jaws is up there as far as greatest monster movies of all time
dont forget tremors and big trouble in little china man!!!

Spielberg has made so many great ones (I feel like there’s this sort of modern, pessimistic tendency to crap on his canon as though he wasn’t making phenomenal pieces of entertainment over a span of decades) but, for me, Jaws is his best.

rewatchability? Goodfellas is up there. I’ve seen it so many times but feel compelled to watch it from whatever point I catch it when it’s on tv. Always feel like I glean something new out of it on the repeat viewings. True classic.

The Prestige is another one. Nolan at the peak of his powers in my opinion. I love The Dark Knight (also highly rewatch able) and Inception but I think The Prestige is my favorite. And it holds up so well on the rewatch.

Supreme film making, Spielberg peaked early, as did Tarantino.
I have to go all the way back to Catch Me If You can for a movie he directed that I really enjoyed it. Hell you could go all the way back to Saving Private Ryan for his last movie that truly felt epic. His back 9 have been pretty disappointing for me at least.

We watched a The Meg recently
It was ok

No country for old men
Peanut butter falcon
Tremors
Step brothers

Yeah good example of te superiority of practical fx, nowadays itd be a CGI shark and it wouldnt look real, even now in 2020 they would struggle to match the realness of that shot using cgi

Jaws is overrated.

Most rewatchable for me is Point Break, Terminator/T2 and the Matrix

In terms of atmospheric horror I'd say Alien really takes the place of Jaws for me, the first 45 mins espeically.

It helps when you have stuff thats just constantly entertaining rather than going for a long buildup I'd say, you can jump into it at any point.

Ghostbusters
Big Trouble In Little China
Raiders of the Lost Ark

All of those I'v probably seen 30+ times.

That's a great list. Bloodsport, Tombstone, and a Christmas Story are also up there.

Whoever said Seinfeld is on the money. Most rewatchable sitcom in history.

Back to the Future
Band of Brothers(I know its a mini series)
Major League
The Godfather
