Yeah good example of te superiority of practical fx, nowadays itd be a CGI shark and it wouldnt look real, even now in 2020 they would struggle to match the realness of that shot using cgi

It really has such a scale to it compared to a CGI shot. You see Brody and Quint on the boat when it lands on it and you really get blown away at the size of the shark compared to them and then you buy the weight of it being enough to crack the stern

Yeah and if it was CGI the interaction between the water and the CGI shark would be all fake looking. They would have to shoot it completely differently, using more close shots and editing, and it would suck the life right out of it.
