Javier Mendez doesn’t think fans are eager to watch Sean O'Malley fight.

Mendez recently acknowledged Movsar Evloev as the most deserving UFC featherweight title contender. However, the American Kickboxing Academy head coach believes that Evloev has been deprived of a title shot so far because of the lack of his drawing power. Mendez further noted that O’Malley received an immediate rematch against Merab Dvalishvili despite losing his bantamweight strap via a lackluster decision.

However, Mendez doesn’t think O’Malley is getting another title shot anytime soon. According to Mendez, “Suga” has lost some of his stardom after consecutive title losses against Dvalishvili.

‘The Eyeballs Are Not Gonna Be on Him’

“Movsar, look at him — they are passing him up because not that many people are interested to see him, even though he deserves it,” Mendez told Know Time. “He is No. 1 in my opinion, but is he getting it? How come Sean O’Malley got title shots after a lackluster performance? Now, what would really be a shock is if he got a title shot after this last performance. Now, I would think that he is going back to the drawing board, because again, the eyeballs are not gonna be on him. Because of the last performance, people are gonna go, ‘Nah, we’re not gonna watch him.’... So his marketability is not there anymore. So they are gonna have to figure out somebody else.”

He needs to stop jerking off again. If he goes a full year without busting a nut he could become champion again.

Sean absolutely does not want to fight Merab again and tbh I think he would go so far as to admit that publicly.

He's right, O'Malley started to get some hype with the hair and all the colors and trying to be a loud Gen Z dude, but he's not good. He said he trained his best and did everything he could, changed his life around, for the last Merab fight, and it was an even worse beating. He needs to leave his buddy and go to another gym if he wants to try and get better and become a champ again.

Lost his aura when he said this.

I’m no O malley defender or fan here but to nuance he did bring it for every fight and made some world class fighters look bad.

I totally get the hate and the jumping in line arguments but the dude is the real deal. I just think he beats everyone not named Merab right now

You think he beats Umar?

Would he win a rematch with Yan?

I like O'Malley, he gets way too much hate. Im not overly sure where he should be ranked at 135 right now.

That's not true at all.
He just needs to switch weight classes.

Remember Charles Oliveira?
People thought his career was over until he moved up to Lightweight.
Oliviera was always a LW, he was just fighting fighters who were great and was at their best as the time, while Oliviera was only 21yrs old. His stint at 145 was okay, but clearly Olviera didn’t know how to cut weight properly. When he returned to LW, most of the fighters were in the twilight of their careers, the youngest person he fought at LW was Kevin Lee.

O’Malley should have never accepted the instant rematch, history has shown the loser of both the first match and instant rematch, their careers usually take a turn for the worst. It’s why i’m usually against instant rematches. If he moves up to 145, it’s going to be a hard road towards a title shot.

Umm, I've talked about this before. O'Malley was never a star to begin with imo. Pink hair can't fix your personality or give you charisma.
Was an obvious "industry plant" if we can call him that in this industry.

However, he is an entertaining striker, but he needs to get back to devastatingly finishing guys is all.

I would move up to 145 if I were him, he has the frame for it and he can crack hard enough to hang at the upper weight class. Whether or not he would be elite is an entirely different story, but I don't see Suga ever being able to get through Merab.

I'm almost always against immediate rematches. O'Malley's career is forever going to be the guy who couldn't beat Merab now. And since he's lost a bit of luster, the promotion has lost the ability to make a new star had he fought someone else. This kid Javier is talking about, he could have fought Sean and either earned a title shot, or given O'Malley a boost in confidence to fight for the title again.

Instant rematches should only be in case of a draw, or some sort of extreme circumstance, like Vitor vs Couture. I'm not even sure I like rematches when the judges get it wrong. They only have one chance to get it right, and the fighters should only have one chance as well.
