Jan was the better striker

Jan was wearing the majority of the damage in that fight.

His legs were clearly hurt.
He was clearly tired.

Striking involves head body and legs.
Alex fucked Jan's legs up, ripped the body hard which likely contributed to Jan looking gassed.

Jan is a better MMA striker.

Somebody should fact check compustrike because there’s no way Pereira landed 35 significant strikes in the third round. Jan was landed the cleaner shots, which got reactions of frustration from an otherwise stoic Pereira.

Pereira had trouble landing clean on a completely gassed 40 year old Jan. His mma striking is overrated af, ceiling falls low when faced with an opponent that has a td threat.

Would have been outstruck for 3 rounds if he didn't lay on top of him for the first five minutes...

Alex would have been using more kicks earlier and often but he had to account for the take down factor which Jan showed that card immediately when the fight started.

alex was getting caught plenty, we take notice because - this mythical beast striking god

I'm confused and maybe I didn't watch the same fight.

People are using flawed logic. Just because Jan shot in the first 10 seconds doesn't mean Alex was the better striker, it means Jan probably thought Alex was the better striker going into the match. It is a logical possibility that Jan could have thought that and still have been the better striker.

I'm not saying Jan was the better striker, I'm just pointing out people's flawed logic.

I don’t know if it was more the high altitude affecting or his age catching up to him but Jan’s cardio really set him back yesterday.

I am fully convinced that the Jan in his championship run would have knocked Pereira out in the second round. He was clearly the quicker and more effective striker in the phonebooth yesterday. It wasn’t until he was exhausted that Pereira started landing his shots.
It probably would have been a lot more dangerous for him if he hadn't wrestled, cause he looked exhausted but I think Pereira was exhausted too because he was less active in the third than Jan. But yeah Jan outstruck him, landed combinations, stronger strikes, and better leg kicks. The commentary kept sucking Alex off because of the welt on Jan's leg but Jan was kicking Pereira with that leg and Pereira was limping at the end of the fight.

Jan outstruck Izzy and Ankalaev, yet wasn’t able to outstrike Alex even with the TD threat. That shows you how good Alex is.

Jan wanted no part of the stand up, which is why he took the fight down in the first minute and gassed himself out. He sold the farm to get a submission that never came. His game plan sevetely underestimated Alex's ground defense. He did not even have anything left in the 2nd round to take the fight down so he was forced to stand up with Alex and Alex won that round clearly. In the third round, Alex outstruck him 35 to 25 so it is delusional statement to say Jan was the better striker.

Alex's face was completely fresh and without even a scratch in the post fight press while Jan had a broken nose and various injuries on his face. He could even stand not just because he was gassed as hell, but because his calves gave out due to the cosntant kicking.

Pereira outlanded him 112-82 WHILE also totally destroying Jan leg to the point that 3-4 more leg kicks would have finished Jan

That's just wishful thinking. Jan had a lump on his leg, yeah. He was never wincing or even looking like his movement was affected by the leg kicks.

You really dont know what youre watching if you think Jan out struck Alex. Jan wasnt checking kicks properly till 3rd round and hes one of the best leg checkers weve seen in MMA. Alex fucked his legs up BAD first 2 rounds, hurt him to the body and head with jabs, hooks from both hands. End of 2nd round Jan was keeling over and about to take a bad ass whooping against the fence from Alexs damage.
